Brown bag it from home food!
I don’t know about France, but in the US at least the school lunch program has a lot to do with alleviating child hunger. Children from homes below certain income levels pay reduced prices (or nothing) because otherwise they very well might not eat.

I brought lunch almost everyday as a student, but that may not be possible for everyone.

I agree with what several users have said; if you don’t want pork, feel free to bring your own lunch. It’s like if a vegetarian is going to iftaar and there is curry with fish being served. You don’t have to eat it if you don’t want it.

Not only that but the non-pork items are also most probably not prepared according to kosher guidelines, for example, chicken. That is why the parents of most children who come from religious homes generally pack their lunch for school. That said, there also should be at least one alternative option, not necessarily on religious grounds, but just for the sake of variety since some children may not like the taste of pork. IOW, schools should have at least two main courses from which to choose rather than a pork day, a chicken day, a fish day, etc.
I have helped in a school cafeteria and I was shocked at all the food wasted. You may have to give them the food but they don’t have to eat it and believe me LOTS don’t. Go see for yourself! When we were kids we ate everything served us, but not today. Kids are very picky eaters. Our school lunches were “homemade” by the lunch ladies. God Bless, Memaw
