Very frequently I’m having uncomfortable dreams at night about a range of things but they all make me uncomfortable, unsettled or feeling like my soul is in peril when I wake up.
What is going on?
In posting this in the Spirituality section because of the feeling I get that I’m going to Hell or something or that God isn’t with me.
Help!

Dreams are simply your brains way of sorting itself out when it has the chance.

I read up on interpretation of dreams once and there is really nothing mystical to it. Dreams are easily explained in that they are simply something going on with us or in our heads. For instance, I had dreams about drowning and tidal waves ans stuff. I read water in a dream is a symbol of our emotions and I was in a kind of emotional turmoil when I had the dream.

Houses are supposed to represent your life. If they are tumble down something needs fixing. It’s your brains image of what worries us and it puts it into pictures in a dream to sort itself out.

Don’t obsess about your bad dreams. It doesn’t mean you are going to hell. Before you go to sleep say to your “dreams”, tonight there won’t be any bad ones, no weird ones and no scary ones." or whatever your specific problem is. I heard this from a medical expert on sleep and it works for me. I use it if I am in a situation where bad dreams may be a problem like spooky wind outside or a strange hotel.

You could be suffering from a demonic attack known as demonic obsession. Try praying the prayer of St. Michael often and perhaps a Rosary every day. You might also wear a blessed Rosary around your neck–beneath your top if that makes it more comfortable. The Rosary is very powerful against evil. Of course if things don’t change or if they get worse, you may want to tell a priest about it.

I think I’m going to mention it next time I’m in confession anyway. Some of the dreams do involve demons.

well it could be demonic possession as a previous poster described since you say you have a feeling of peril when you wake up normal nightmares will just scare you a bit but nightmares like this sound like something more.
get a scapular, a st. benedict’s medal, and pray the rosary and st. micheal prayers also the divine mercy chaplet is good for demonic influences

There are a lot of things which can help cause nightmares, even physical causes such as sleep apnea. Nightmares have a range all the way to “night terrors”, where someone wakes up screaming, often doesn’t want to go back to sleep in case the nightmare may return.

I skimmed this. It’s from Wikipedia on nightmares:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightmare

Night terrors are more intense. Mostly children have them, and people generally outgrow that, but some don’t.

I had a friend of mine who used to have “night terrors” and said they were quite terrible.

Sometimes, nightmares can end up leading a person to have insomnia. It’s my understanding that understanding can cause other problems, including depression.

In one place I lived, they actually had a sleep disorder clinic and analyzed all kinds of sleep issues.

You might want to mention this to your physician to see what he says.

Prayer also certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Nightmares can come from other causes. It’s not necessarily demonic. Stress, sleep deprivation, medications and other things can cause nightmares.

Yes I know I hope it’s just because I’ve been stressed lately.
