It has been just over a year (September 28, 2013) that Brother David Balok O. Carm who posted as Friar David, O. Carm passed away from cancer. I was reading some of his old posts and thought I’d remember him here today with this post and private prayer. I know his interaction on the forum was helpful to many.

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord: and let perpetual light shine upon him May he rest in peace. Amen.

I remember him well and pray for the repose of his soul. I hope he remembers to pray for his CAF friends.

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord: and let perpetual light shine upon him May he rest in peace. Amen.

I did not know that. I wondered why he no longer posted. That is so sad.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, Let perpetual light shine unto him, may he rest in peace.

I’m saddened that I missed that this happened. Praying for his soul, and for his community.

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine.
Et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Fidelium animae, per misericordiam Dei, requiescant in pace. Amen

May his memory be eternal.

I just came across his name today and realised that he was an Eastern Catholic Carmelite friar. If anyone would please be able to tell me more about Eastern rite Carmelites, or direct me to the community that he was associated with, could you please send me a message?

Thank you.

Friar David was Byzantine Catholic who received permission to become a friar in the Roman Catholic Order of Carmelites (O. Carm.).

There are different Eastern Rite Carmelites - Byzantine Carmelites, Syro-Malabar Carmelites, etc

IIRC, he was a member of the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary. See No, 82/2013-20-10 .
