Hello,

I had a few doubts…
  1. I would like to know what are the rules of abstinence on Fridays throughout the year…
  2. If that Friday is a parish feast or a Class I Feast e.g. Christmas, All Saints’ Day, etc. does the abstinence needs to be observed…?
  3. Is it an obligation to abstain on All Souls’ Day…?
  4. Are dishes made of egg and fish exempt from abstinence or not…?
Anticipating replies from a Traditionalist Catholic perspective…

The correct answer depends on what country you are in and whether you are a Latin rite or Eastern Catholic.

Hmmm… Ok… Thanks, (name removed by moderator)…

So this was regarding the rules of abstinence…

I had a slightly related doubt…

Q. The rules of fasting only hold true for Ember Days, Days of Lent (except for Sundays in Lent), Vigils (as prescribed by the 1962 Roman Calendar, right…?

I have come to know the difference between fasting and abstinence, all thanks to the clarity of Traditional Roman Catholicism…😇

(name removed by moderator) above is correct.

I have to ask, andypl, based on all your threads, are you in consultation with a priest or Catholic group about all these practices you’re asking about? It seems like a lot of your questions are based on old versions of prayers and rules that are on the Web, not the versions that the Church is using today. If you’re actually trying to practice old fasting rules, etc I would think the best way to proceed would be to find a congregation of SSPX or FSSP who would also have clergy or others who could help you with your questions.

Hello,

Actually, I attribute the solid foundation of my Catholic Faith to Traditional Catholicism. (Long story w.r.t. this…)

Unfortunately, there will be no TLM or such-based groups in our country due to the disparagement by the liberal-heterodox clergy and Catholic populace who are only “Catholic” in name…

Although, I feel compelled to attend Sunday Mass in the Novus Ordo Rite, by means of TLM Live Mass Broadcasts and spiritual communion, I feel one in Spirit of the Catholic Church…

P.S. It doesn’t mean that the Novus Ordo is invalid, in my opinion… I don’t feel a spiritual connect due to the distractions prevailing during the Mass…

In that case, Tis_Bearself, could you please help me to find if there are groups here on Catholic Answers related to FSSP and SSPX related discussions…? Since, I have just started operating this account a few days ago, I am still getting accustomed to the functionalities…

Anyone in the audience could also help in me in this matter…? It would be highly appreciated…

Thanks in advance…🙂

I wondered if maybe you were in a location without good access to FSSP or SSPX. The “Traditional Catholicism” name of this forum is a bit misleading, as some people expect the whole forum to be about FSSP, SSPX, TLM etc and that is not always the case. As I know there are quite a few FSSP, SSPX and TLM devotees who post on the forum, but no dedicated subforum just for that, you may get more of what you are looking for if you put “SSPX/FSSP perspectives wanted” or something similar in the thread title or your first post.
