hi. 🙂 i made a vegetable recipe. my friend from Indonesia gives this one. i make it different. not all ingredients are at my store.

cook tofu cut in squares in peanut oil. make it a little brown. add chili paste. make it hot! add scrambled egg. cook it. add water chestnuts. fresh is better. but only cans here. cook for a while. add snow peas. fresh. cook for a while. add sprouts. add bok choy that is chopped. cook. but not too long. bok choy is not good to be limp.

cook rice. put all vegetables on the rice. use kecap manis on the top. kecap manis is a sweet sauce from Indnonesia. my friend says kecap manis means ketchup. haha. it is not like ketchup in the US. hot from chili paste. sweet from kecap manis. very good!

Fish…I am trying to get back into the practice of eating fish on Friday’s. I really enjoyed it because my son invited me and we had a great conversation!!

*Theresa, you bring a good point up, I’d like my family to do that also, eat fish on Fridays, get into that habit.

Tonight, we had spaghetti with vodka tomato sauce. Relax, I didn’t make the sauce. 😃 Out of a jar, tonight…lol

I watched a little of Giada’s cooking show when I got home from work…I record it, she made homemade ravioli.

Madeliene, your dinner sounds far more tasty and interesting than mine…not sure about the eggs, though…sounds like a lot of things blended together, did it all seem to blend in harmony with each other? *

DH wasn’t feeling well, so while he napped, I visited our favorite pizza/pasta joint by myself and had mussels and linguine with white wine sauce. Served with garlic bread and a salad with pepper parm dressing. Every bit of everything was homemade!

I went to meatless Fridays a couple of years ago. All week long, I am not one bit interested in meat, but if somebody grills a steak on Friday night, it’s all I can think about, I want one so much! Isn’t it always the way? 😛

I’ve never made Indonesian food, but that dish did sound great.

I had spanakopita and dolmas (purchased, not homemade).

Salads with Ranch dressing and grilled chicken with pumpernickel bread on the side. Yum!

spanakopita – phylo dough with spinach and feta

dolmas – grape leaves stuffed with rice

When I was kid we had baked mac-n-cheese with some kind of fish every Friday. Its been a long time and I don’t remember why we had fish on Fridays. Why fish?

It doesn’t have to be fish. Fish used to be a less-expensive, non-meat protein option.

We’re having cheese and spinach ravioli. 👍 Thank you, Costco!

*Oh my…yummy. Did you buy them at a specialty shop…or your grocer? I have never seen anything like that sold at Publix, here in FL. *

It’s not about eating fish on Friday, but abstaining from meat.

I got them at Trader Joe’s. Do you have that in FL? If not, then maybe Whole Foods. Costco used to carry the spanakopita. I am not sure if they still do. Or go to any Greek restaurant.

Lentil soup in the crockpot and some fresh baked (store bought dough :p) bread from the oven! Yum! Even the kids have seconds and it’s too easy!

It doesn’t have to be fish, it’s just traditional for Catholics to not eat meat on Fridays. Fish, eggs, tofu, and other kinds of protein are allowed.

Tonight I made some ravioli (frozen) with olive oil, herbs and some sauteed vegetables.

yes it is. my husband makes a steak for him. (he is not Catholic)

Two boxes of thick’n’creamy mac’n’cheese mix, with the preparations modified as follows:
  1. The liquid that the mac is boiled in includes a large can of petit-diced tomatoes in juice.
  2. A heaping teaspoon of curry powder is added to the sauce mix.
  3. Two cans of Mexicorn are added.
  4. Several glops of Cheese Whiz are added for extra cheesiness.
It’s just as good the next day, with some cut-up smoked sausage.
