Friday in Passion Week / Commemoration of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary

In the 1962 Angelus Press Roman Catholic Daily Missal the entry for Friday in Passion Week read like this:

**Commemoration of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Mass: see the Proper of Saints, p. 1162

Friday in Passion Week**

It then proceeds to give all of the Propers for the day including the Introit, Collect, Epistle, Gradual, Tract, Gospel, Offertory, Secret, Communion, and Postcommunion just like any other Mass. And it gives the Prayer over the People as any other Mass in Lent.

Now, my first thought is that on the Friday in Passion Week these are the Propers that are supposed to be used and that a Commemoration is to be made of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Now, if I remember correctly, a Commemoration means that the Collect, Secret, and Postcommunion of the Seven Sorrows would be said after the Collect, Secret, and Postcommunion of Friday in Passion Week.

However, when I look to p. 1162 I see not only the Collect, Secret, and Postcommunion but Propers for an entire Mass.

So, my questions would be:
Exactly what Propers are used on the Friday in Passion Week?
If the Propers are of Friday in Passion Week would the Seven Sorrows be commemorated?
When would the full Propers for the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary be used? In a Votive Mass?

Any thoughts on this?

Just an FYI about what day we are talking about. Friday of Passion week is the Friday before Palm Sunday. I would think, since this is one of two days Our Lady of Seven Sorrows is assigned (the other being Sept 15) that the prayers could be used in the Mass but not required. I very well could be wrong…and will continue to read the posts that follow.

I have found this Chaplet a profound spiritual companion this Lent…the small book by Tan (hard to find though) has been constantly with me and will be beyond the Lenten season.

At Low Masses.

When would the full Propers for the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary be used? In a Votive Mass?

Yes, two festive Masses are permitted on this day, when there are special public devotions held in honour of OL Sorrows, and the feria is commemorated.

As for the Votive Mass, kind of. Strictly speaking, I suppose, one would day that this Mass would not be used because all the rubrics for a Votive Mass have been removed from it. However, in actual fact, they have all merely been transferred to the feast on September 15, which has identical texts.
