Please pray for a friend of my daughter who was hit by a drunk driver Tuesday. She had just celebrated her 16th birthday but is now in extremely critical condition, suffering from a head trauma and other injuries. Doctors have had to remove her right lung, and she remains in a coma.

She and two other girls who sustained minor injuries were all active members of our local Catholic Church. She had just finished her first year Confirmation class and was looking forward to being Confirmed next year.

Lord, hear our prayer!

Omnipotent and eternal God, the everlasting Salvation of those who believe, hear us on behalf of Thy sick servant, for whom we beg the aid of Thy pitying mercy, that, with her bodily health restored, she may give thanks to Thee in Thy Church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

This is terrible 😦 I will definitely be praying for her.

Omnipotent and eternal God,
the everlasting Salvation of those who believe,
hear us on behalf of Thy sick servant,
for whom we beg the aid of Thy pitying mercy,
that, with her bodily health restored,
she may give thanks to Thee in Thy church.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Passing along an update:

Victoria is still on life support with the machines doing most of her body’s functions. The doctors told her parents that the first 48 hours were critical, if she made it passed that, she had a good chance to survive. She has passed that mark, so they are hopeful and have put Victoria’s life in God’s hands. They appreciate everyone’s prayers.

All three girls are active in their church. Here is the Our Lady of the Assumption church posting which a church member sent:

Two of the girls are Jamie Lou Sabellon and Crystel Jugan. Jamie Lou Sabellon, who was the driver, is one of our talented youth lectors at OLA youth mass. She is also a Youth Ministry Core Team member, and has started singing with the Youth Choir on the Sundays she does not read. Jamie Lou suffered severe shock. She continued to throw up for hours after the accident and was put on morphine to numb the pain all over her body.

Crystel Jugan, a Youth Choir member and a Cajon High School cheer leader, was a passenger in the back seat. Crystel suffered a fractured right shoulder and had to have stitches on her beautiful face. She also was put on morphine for the terrible pain she was suffering.

Both girls had to be kept in the hospital for 24 hour observation. Thankfully, their injuries, though severe, was not life threatening and allowed them to be released home today.

The third girl is Victoria Lemus, who just celebrated her 16th birthday at Victoria Gardens last Wednesday. Victoria just completed her 1st year Confirmation class and was looking forward to being Confirmed next year. She was so excited about her Confirmation that she had already asked Chris to be her sponsor. Right now Victoria is fighting for her life. She has suffered critical injuries. She has already had a lung removed and continues to struggle to breath on her own. She is on life support and does not seem to be responding to her medication and treatments. Victoria still has not come out of coma since the accident and has already gone through 2 surgeries. Victoria’s parents and family keep vigil over her, vacillating between prayer and anger.

We have just received news that Victoria died this morning.

Please continue to pray for her repose of her soul, for her family, and for the two other girls who were injured in the accident.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and on the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace Amen
My condolences go out to her family. I will continue praying for the other girls.
What a great loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of this beloved young girl, and with her friends. I am sure she will be a powerful advocate for them in the courts of Our Lord, a shining beacon of the faith she loved so well. May God bring to all concerned light, happiness and peace until all are joined together with Him in Heaven.
