Friend just told me she is self-harming

She may not fully understand. She may not want to explain everything. She may not be ready.

I don’t think I ever worked directly on stopping self-harm. I just…got to the point where I didn’t need to anymore. It doesn’t tend to be the sort of thing people prefer, so much as people don’t feel like they have better options.

Coping mechanism.

It hurt a bit, yes. Physical pain provided some release when life hurt more.

I think I would like to leave it at that. I haven’t done it for almost 30 years and it’s best left back there.
