Friend went to John Edwards "talk to dead" event

Sorry, I didn’t mean to go off-topic, but I couldn’t resist sharing that fact about John Edwards.

I don’t have any sources to cite for this post either, but I think souls in purgatory are rarely allowed to contact living people, like Coreopisis mentioned. I think psychics that are really receiving messages are being used by demons. It is so spiritually dangerous, & that’s why it’s forbidden. The rest, like Sylvia Browne, are opening themselves up to evil, but are just exploiting people & acting.

The worrisome thing about John Edwards and Sylvia Browne is that they are COMFORTABLE in that “dimension.” It tells us how deeply ensnared they are. They sin against the First Commandment.

Thanks for all the (name removed by moderator)ut. Sorry it took me so long to get back to see it! In the book I was reading “The Challenging Counterfeit” the author describes the spiritualism movement and how many who are involved even as mediums consider themselves Christians. He said that they think the departed are communicating through them. It took him a while to realize that the spirits are actually demons, not the dead. I think the term is familiar spirits. They are convincing as Satan always is and lure people into an evil realm. He was almost killed by them when he started to see the light and get out of the practice.

I wonder how many people get pulled into the demonic my these “good” Christian people who channel demonic messages to them?

I hope my friend gets over her desire to contact her mother. Does Edward still have the show on TV?

Devils cannot read thoughts, but do know anything ever spoken out loud.

This John Edward guy isn’t contacting anybody. He’s a con artist. He makes statements to the bereaved, fishing for information. He’ll say something like, “I’m sensing a maternal presence.” And the bereaved person thinks for a moment, and then comes up with an answer for him, “Oh yeah, my Aunt Tillie used to be kind of maternal.” Or he’ll say “I’m getting the letter J. Is there someone whose name begins with J?” Now, who doesn’t know somebody with a name beginning with J? He’s taking advantage of people’s grief.

I hate to even suggest this, but the best refutation of John Edwards, indeed, complete and total demolition of him and his methods, was a South Park episode. I rarely recommend it to teen-agers, but it would be the best away to approach one and they’ll never look at John Edwards the same again.
