Hey guys, a friend of mine used to say she worshipped the devil as a joke, just for the sake of being “edgy”. She recently converted to Catholicism, and now she is worried that she might have sold her soul. She knows that if it is just in your mind, then there should be nothing to worry about because the devil can not read minds, but now she’s worried because of all the jokes she made in the past. She never explicitly asked the devil for help though, she is just worried that her joke may have cost her soul. I tried telling her multiple times that nothing could have happened because I knew many Christians who just say it but not mean it, and they’re fine I guess, and also actors in horror movies may say it? She just truly feels bad about it, and I can see where she is coming from, because once out of paranoia truly horrible thoughts came to me, and I was kinda afraid about that but I just prayed and I’m fine! So does anyone have any advice for my friend? She is going to confession soon also, and I kept on reassuring her that she is probably not in a state of mortal sin, because others pressured her into the joke, and she did not mean it.
Also: I was trying to help my friend by researching answers for her question, but I somehow came across an image of a contract between the devil and some French Catholic Priest, and I’m deeply disturbed by the priest actions on that, any idea on how to remove that image from my mind?
