Hello All,

I’ve written before about my long time friend who is Mormon. We have always been very respectful of each other’s beliefs and focus on our mutual love for Jesus. However in the last two years she has moved to Utah for work and become more involved with her Mormon friends. When she does visit I feel it’s out of convience or duty since we always try to meet when she visits. I have always put more effort into the relationship and even though she says she will try she never emails, calls or texts. I’ve come to peace knowing our friendship is over but I did send a talk about a Mormon who become Catholic asking her opinion and she hasn’t responded which is not uncommon it could be weeks before I hear something. I guess as a friend hopefully she we recognize the distance 🤷

It’s hard because she will post stuff about her Mormon faith and I feel disregarded even though I’ve put so much effort into our friendship and sharing my faith. I’m praying God will bless me with a new friend. 🙂 thanks for listening to me vent 😉
I have a very close “former” Catholic friend (complicated) who honestly seems to think I am going to Hell. (She goes to a Baptist church, now). I tried to make it work with her, I really did. Unfortunately, that did not seem to be very mutual. She and I have known each other for years, and no matter what I said, she would not listen to me. She still won’t. She doesn’t want to talk it out, and she thinks I am going to Hell. If only she realised that the very reason I am worried about her is because I don’t want her to go to hell…

Are you sure it’s because of faith, and not simply being caught up in her new life in a new place? People can get very caught up in things. Could you perhaps ask her about it?

As to possible candidates of something about your faith which could make her uncomfortable (I’m hitting broad topics here)
  • Is you primary hang out spot a bar or coffee house?
  • Does your social time revolve around alcohol?
  • Do you talk about having sex with your significant other?
(I also appreciate the sympathy about loosing my old friend. It is an old wound at this point, but occasionally still hurts. Like I think of her every Good Friday because we would always go to her church as she narrated Stations of the Cross).
She has been there over two years so I think she has adjusted to life there already, I guess the bigger issue is when I’ve brought communication more frequently in the past she says she will try better but doesn’t. I have even tried to not talk to her to test her to see how long it would take her to contact me and let’s just say I have always texted to check on her, it could be months and she wouldn’t talk to me. We usually eat at a restaurant or coffee shop and no alcohol at all we both don’t drink. No relationship so we don’t talk about that. I think sometimes when we talk about faith maybe she doesn’t want to defend or know all the answers so that could be something.i love stations I went last night it was lovely. I hope you can still go to stations and participate in the Holy Week activities! My favorite is when we read the story of Jesus passion it truly brings it to life.

Thank you so much. Friends are so important in our lives we should cherish every one. Even those we have for a short time. God sends them to us for a reason. Kitty and I have done so much together over the years with my kids and grandkids. Sunday we are going to the Holy Door at our Cathedral. We are both widows. She came back into the Faith, (after many years away), after we met, she started going to Church with me. Her husband later became Catholic and her son. We’re still praying for her daughter and family to return. So we have much to be thankful for. God Bless, Memaw
That is a beautiful gift Memaw! How lovely that you helped her come back to her faith and I hope her entire family comes back to the faith as well. To your other note about your other friend that goes to church with you despite being another faith also another beautiful gift.

Sorry to hear about your friend. I think all you can do is pray for her and show love. Sometimes like with my friend I heard the Lord tell me let me shape your heart while I shape hers. In addition to God shaping our hearts we have to recognize everyone is on their own journey and even though at times it hurts they have a right to live their lives the way they won’t too but I don’t think it’s wise to tell you that you are going to hell. I mean that is unchristian she should be trying to help you not hurt you. Have you asked her why she feels that way? If it is solely because you are Catjolic what about her salvation if she had stayed Catholic?

Sadly, I have found people to be fickle. … But a good friend would be able to communicate this to you and agree on new parameters of the friendship
I know it hurts to loose a friend no matter what the reason
Sorry to hear about your friend and I agree people do change sometimes for the better and other times for worse. I agree as well that she should discuss the new parameters.
