From Orthodox to Catholic?

The simple answer is that, you can join any of the 24 churches that form the communion of the Catholic Church that you feel most comfortable being apart of.

I would research into each of their liturgies, distinct traditions, and of course the culture surrounding these churches to fully comprehend what you will be entering into.

So, my question is twofold:

1.) If a convert to Orthodoxy enters the Catholic faith, must they enter it through a jurisdiction that practices the same rite? That is, must an Eastern Orthodox Christian become an Eastern Catholic if they were originally a convert to Orthodoxy?

2.) If I were to enter the Church through the Eastern Rite, would orienting my devotional life, at times, toward the West make for a kind of schizophrenic existence if coupled with life in an Eastern parish? I feel like I’d be Roman at home and Eastern during liturgy. Has anyone found themselves in a situation like this? It doesn’t seem insurmountable-- just odd, I suppose.

Thanks for any guidance!
Guidance would at best come from a holy priest. I cannot offer an answer to your first question. In my case, I was a long lost cradle Catholic. My husband and I found it difficult to convert/revert into the Roman church. He converted to Eastern Catholicism and as his spouse my transfer was easy. But this schizophrenia of sorts that you mention, has been paralyzing at times. Having searched for my cradle faith my whole life, I have had to set it aside, since it’s practice was changed and it’s resurrection in small isolated areas hard to find. I find myself more and more Eastern in thought and deed.
