I have been a lifelong Christian, my parents are Pentecostal and today I am a Methodist Christian(me and my wife). Last year, my interest in the Catholic church increased and I am thinking of becoming a Catholic. Has anyone gone through this? From Protestant to Catholic?
What I have to do first? What book read first? Etc…

Thanks

I am happy you are developing an interest in the Catholic faith.

To clarify your question, are you still just considering becoming a Catholic or are you more sure that you want to convert? If you have specific questions with regard to Catholicism, you might want to describe them so people can provide the best books or other materials for you to read. If/ when you are sure you want to convert, then you speak to a Catholic priest about the RCIA program which is the process through which Catholic converts are taught about Catholicism and received into the Church.

My dad was partially brought up Methodist (also partially Baptist, as his mom was Baptist and dad was Methodist), but Dad just decided very decisively he was going to convert to Catholicism so he didn’t need to read anything or think too much about it. He wanted to marry my mother and she was Catholic and wouldn’t marry him unless he converted, so he just said okay, where do I go and what do I do to convert as soon as possible.

I did. I was raised Pentecostal, went Presbyterian in college, and then converted to Catholicism after college.

Generally you go through RCIA. I’d imagine most parishes are about midway through their program, but you can still contact a parish and ask about it.

From personal experience, I became interested over growing desire to have a more sacramental focus and because my views on Mary and marriage were beginning to divert from standard Protestant teaching right around the time I was starting to more question aspects of Reformed Christianity. I spent a few months researching Catholicism and reading both Catholic and Protestant apologists, and after getting up the courage to go to Mass, I filled out a visitor card saying I wanted info on becoming Catholic. It was right around the time RCIA started, so I got into it right when they began for the year. While RCIA itself didn’t do a whole lot to convince me, my sponsor was really good and helped deal with some of my remaining questions regarding Mary, atonement, etc. The time to really deal with doubts, such as coming to terms with how weird the Eucharist seemed, was also helpful.
What book read first?
I’m not sure about Methodist to Catholic. Most books I’ve read came from those who left Evangelicalism or Reformed Christianity. That said, a few that might help are Rome Sweet Home, Catholic Answers to Protestant Questions, and The Protestant Dilemma. Crossing the Tiber is good for getting a lot on Baptism and the Eucharist, but it is a bit of a tougher read than the others. Behold Your Mother is great for Marian dogma.

The others before me have answered well. I’ve been down this path. You’re in our prayers! Ask lots of questions!!

I’d watch “ Song of Bernadette “

And / or “ Our Lady of Fatima “

Those two movies are super fun Catholic classics !

I was raised Episcopalian, then after being agnostic in college, joined a non-denominational church.
Later married a Catholic, and gradually learned that Catholicism is the church Jesus founded.
Praying that your journey will go smoothly.
God bless.
