Hi, I leaving religious life after 6 years on temporal vows. I want to enter to the diocesan life, which is the process?

Calling your diocese’s vocations director is step one.

You MIGHT be able to speak with other vocations directors too, but start with your home diocese and/or the diocese you have been living in for the last 6 years.

If you do not know who the vocations director is, simply call the main telephone number for the diocese.

God Bless!

I would begin by talking with the superiors in your religious community. They know you best and can best advise you. You also will need a reference from them if you plan to be incardinated in a diocese.

Given you’ve already professed temporary vows, you would need these to lapse or be released from them via an indult of departure. You would also need to find a diocese that was willing to accept you - don’t be surprised if you’re subject to a stand down period before admission to the diocesan seminary. Finally, the diocese will also want to know (from your order) details of your admission to that community, your time there and the circumstances of your departure.

If you haven’t already had this conversation with your superior you need to.
