When I used an Ouija board around 10 years ago I consequently become obsessed with the paranormal. I started feeling dark foreboding presences at night and observing movement of objects around the house. Frequent night terrors ect. My ex wife at the time being concerned was an ED nurse and taken me to the hospital where she worked. They diagnosed me with schizophrenia. First they did an MRI and other scans to rule out medical problems such as Epilepsy. When everything was ruled out they told me I had a chemical imbalance of my brain and only drugs can treat it which would be for life.

Fast forward 5 years I began to question if I needed drugs as I had no symptoms of schizophrenia . I stopped them abruptly a few times and had severe withdrawal effects in which psychiatric doctors instantly re diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder (a combination of a few disorders).

Over the course of a year I slowly weaned off them all through a compounding chemist. I am now drug free and come to the conclusion everything they told me about being on psychotropic drugs is rubbish. Neurotransmitters misfiring in my brain and all that baloney…

I also come across a few psychiatrists who publicly criticise their own profession

It’s an interesting story. But what are you looking for on this forum? Do you have a specific question or a specific matter that you would like others to comment on?

Thanks for your reply. I’m interested to see if others have similar experiences? It seems anything spiritual these days is reduced to the brain for which is not diagnostic and zero evidence to prove what mainstream psychiatry claims. They have a history of getting things wrong, and at the hands of big Pharma. It seem people are simply grasping at the straws. Not everyone who experiences symptoms is medical, but their answer is to just put everyone on drugs… Why is everything spiritual being pushed out over the years?

It’s a tricky area medically as the only way to treat mental health conditions is to diagnose by asking potentially subjective questions and treat with medications that we aren’t 100 percent sure how they work.

Most other conditions will have either lab tests and medical imaging and treatments we have a better understanding of and can be clinically monitored. It also leaves less room for speculation, I mean you could feel exhausted because demons are draining your energy, or a blood test could reveal anaemia or hypothyroidism.

The symptoms are mollified by taking medication prescribed by psychiatrists as far as I know. They don’t appear to cure but perhaps help stabilise until over time equilibrium might be restored. Unfortunately it may be difficult to discern which effects are caused by the natural imbalance and which are caused by the medication it seems. But maybe thses details are best discussed on a different forum.

mental aberrations can be caused by a variety of things, spiritual, pathogenic ideation and organic imbalance or disease I’m sure. Exercising prudence in what we expose ourselves to is very important. People should be warned to steer clear of the ouija board and perhaps satisfy their need for excitement in healthier pursuits.

Medications help some people but harm other people.
Psychotherapy helps some people but harms other people.
Holistic approaches may help, or harm, or have no effect at all.

You have to remember that every-body is an individual and what brings great relief to one person won’t necessarily work for everybody.

So try what’s out there to see what works.

But please caution: psychotropics are powerful drugs and dosages need to be adjusted with the help of a doctor or NP.
