Frustrated with online dating

So Mely, in short, we heathens say this:

Keep your options open. Look online…look all around you. Your perfect mate is out there somewhere. And you will find him. It does take time to find someone right for you. You may meet him somewhere unexpected. I met a couple of my relationships in places I would never have thought to look for someone.

One thing I did notice though…at least for me…is that when I looked too hard for that special person I never seemed to find him. It is sometimes when you are not expecting it…and when it does happen, it will hit you like a ton of bricks. And it will be worth the wait.

For the times that you are alone…do hold on to that career and anything else in your life that make you feel good about yourself. there is absolutely nothing wrong with independence. And your future husband will value it too, if he really loves you and wants you to be happy.

And last, but certainly not least…do pray to God about it. I do believe he can lead you to the one perfect for you. 🙂
What she said x2. Nice summary Angel!

I know. I was also referring to him. I was telling her that I don’t care that he opened a can of worms and threw out insults and misinformation right and left. Besides…I smell a troll.
Unfortunately, I don’t think the guy is a troll (look at his past posting history). That actually worries me. I would be relieved if he was a troll.

Well, that is something that all practicing Roman Catholics know about, and makes me suspect that the OP is getting advice from heathens in this thread. There were a few post that mentioned that secular men were okay. Catholics must get dispensation from their Bishop before marring a non-Catholic outside the Church. Catholics must receive the Sacrament of Marriage in the Roman Catholic Church, or they are excommunicated. If you think your Bishop will give you dispensation to marry a pervert that you found on the Internet, go ahead and try. I doubt it!
Troll poster…ok I got it. The catholic church is not so quick to excommunicate anyone…just an FYI Johndoe

I agree. The guys are looking for instant gratification. We are in the same boat, I’m glad I’m not the only one. I also see alot of selfishness in guys. The ones that I dated were very self-absorbed, it was all about them. It was a big turn off.
Yep that’s been my experience. There are good guys out there they are just hard to find gems I guess. Most seem to be married too oh well singleness is better than misery with the wrong person.

I met my now fiance on a free dating site and he was the first and only person I met there. I know those results are not typical, but sometimes you do get lucky.
Congrats I know 3 other couples that met that way and are happy just doesn’t work for us all sadly. 🤷

Dating is just taxing. I’m just being single and waiting for God to take care of the rest. 😃

It’s easier that way.

Ite in pace,
Joshua

He’s a troll poster…looking for attention.
Correction, you are the troll, and I have been presenting the Catholic point of view regarding dating and marriage. There is zero tolerance for marriage outside the Church without Dispentstion from a Bishop. Also, it’s every Christians responsibility, Catholic or Protestant, not to drag our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ through the dirt on the Internet. We can congregate in the safety of our churches and parishes under the direction of our pastor.

Or, he’s anti Catholic and posting extreme things trying to get people to agree with him so that he can use the thread to show how crazy/sexist/etc Catholics are. It sounds crazy, but I know people who do that, on this and other religious sites. It even happens on atheist chat sites.

That would be me, too. I haven’t been so active on either Ave Maria or Catholic Match for a while. I have a running joke that if God wants me married, the guy will have to knock on my door (and he will probably end up being the UPS guy.)
At my age, Mary, I can’t decide if I should pray for God to bring me a plastic surgeon or a contractor…I mean, I have this house and the fence needs repair, you know?

:rotfl:

LOL Like I said TROLL poster.🍿🍿:dts:

I will tell you to be careful about anyone posting on the dating sites that say they are currently deployed to Afghanistan and are an Army Captain. Chances are it is a fake profile.

I was engaged to a pagan for four years and it didn’t really work out. I have returned to the faith after a while looking in all the wrong places (I was a goth kid for ten years). I had something special with my ex for a while but she betrayed my trust and religious differences started to really get in the way. I am 28 and actively looking and I am on a few of these sites previously mentioned by several people. It can be frustrating and I haven’t been on a date in a year but I just started to open up to the idea again. I live in California and things are very secular and superficial and it’s hard to meet women of the faith but I know they are out there

I have just recently started talking to a young woman in the Philippines, and there is a girl in my parish I kind of have a crush on. we were in the passion play together earlier this year. I haven’t been on any dates yet but I am actively praying to Our Lord, Our Lady, St Jude and St Raphael for help. I’m kind of hesitant to choose for myself at the moment because I’ve always gotten into trouble with dating and suffered various hardships with it.

I haven’t read through all of this thread but I read elsewhere on this site “All the good catholic guys are sitting around wondering where all the catholic girls are and all the good catholic girls are sitting around wondering where all the catholic guys are.”

Society has made courting very difficult because the modern trend is serial dating and hookup culture which often fails or leads to difficulties.

Anyway my prayers and support goes out to all you singles out there looking for someone. I’ll check this thread for a few more days.

Good luck to all of us.

For those that are divorced or widowed, the Catholic Church sponsors a wonderful weekend retreat called “Beginning Experience.” It was cleansing, lliberating, forgiving and and a fun experience to boot!!! Friendships are made that can last a lifetime. You meet people that understand what you are going through and are there to lift you up. Two of my friends started dating and recently became engaged that met at Beginning Experience. God works in mysterious ways!
