Will anybody be watching it today at 11:00 on EWTN? I’m hoping they show it over the internet, because that’s how I’ll be watching the first hour of it before I have to leave to observe. Hopefully it will be a beautiful Mass and will get people’s attention. I don’t doubt that it will be.
 
Please file under “Lujack is a dummy”; that Mass is tomorrow, not today.
 
I was going to say something about that but “charity” got the best of me. Yes, many of us will be watching. It starts at 8:00am Pacific time. Just right for morning coffee and a pleasant viewing experience. Our FSSP priest, Fr. Saguto, headed down there today. Wished I could have gone too.
 
I’ll file it under “Lujack is not a dummy”, if you please. Boo-boo’s happen after all. 🙂

I too hope it’ll be shown online, as I have to go to work. What I wonder is how much they’ll show, as it supposed to take several hours.
 
Well, see you just gave people even more of a heads up that it’s happening. 😃
 
I’m watching it right now. Hopefully the commentators will not talk throughout the whole Mass.

I doubt they will talk through the Mass but I’m really appreciating the information and explanations of what is happening and why it is done during the Consecration. I’m learning a lot.
 
I don’t have EWTN so I couldn’t watch the dedication of the new Chapel but I saw some pictures on the WDTPRS blog. It looked like such a beautiful and reverent dedication. I wish the FSSP were available in my diocese because it seems to be a great society of priests!

It is being shown on EWTN.com’s live TV stream right now (meaning you can watch it on the internet).

I would think they will re-broadcast it thorughout the day even on the web stream.

EDIT: corrected to say ‘shown’ instead of ‘available’ because I don’t want to confuse that it is available as perma-link
 
I wish it would have been mentioned earlier…I would’ve loved to watch it 😦

I’m sure it will be up on EWTN at some point for rebroadcast, and pictures are already up on New Liturgical Movement and What Does The Prayer Really Say. And EWTN usually archives the EF Masses that they show. So don’t worry, there will be another chance. If not, there’s still the big EF Mass coming up in April at the National Shrine Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, down in D.C.

Anyway, it was a beautiful ceremony and I was glad I watched it. I had class up until 12:45, so I got to see the end of the consecration ceremony, with the incensing and blessing of the altars, and the Mass itself. It was absolutely beautiful.

I was also grateful for the commentary; it really helped me, somebody who has not seen a Tridentine Mass in person, understand what was going on. Based on what was said, I’m pretty sure that the one commentator was a member of the FSSP himself, maybe even a teacher at the seminary. If he’s representative of the way in which the Society explains the Latin Mass, I’d imagine that their parishes are in pretty darn good shape. He was just so…teacherly (if that’s a word) about what various things, especially during the Consecration ceremony and the vesting of the altar, meant.
 
I watched some of it at home, then online with the volume on low. It was wonderful to see the different orders, bishops, etc. I was especially happy to see the Carmelites (b/c I don’t think I’ve ever seen them “live” as it were), and some representatives from ICRSS. I got all excited at the awesome relics of the saints; I was especially happy to see St. Thomas of Canterbury among them!! And it was cool to see the Cardinal pound those doors!
 
Anybody who can watch this and say that they support the Novus Ordo is insane. I’m not saying the Novus Ordo is not valid…but…give me a break. The reverence…and the majesty of this is too beautiful for words. I choked up watching it. In fact…I have decided to avoid the Novus Ordo…whenever possible. The new revisions to the Missal are not adequate. I am convinced…that our wonderful Pope…his Holiness Pope Benedict…will fix this horrible problem in the Church. I am convinced he will bring us back to the “Holy Sacrifice of the Mass” and remove this irreverance we have tolerated for too long.

Did you not hear Cardinal Levada’s sermon? I think he made it clear about the Church’s distaste about those who try to use the two forms of the Roman Rite to divide and disunite the Church.
 
I was able to catch it too, and enjoyed it immensely. What a beautiful mass in a beautiful place! I do hope to have an opportunity to visit the seminary and its chapel as a guest
 
I was not saying the Novus Ordo was not valid. I was just saying that after watching a Tridentine Mass it should be logically and spiritually impossible to return to the Novus Ordo. How many Novus Ordo Masses have you seen done with no reverence or regard to the rubrics? How many Tridentine Masses have you seen done this way? I’ll bet none on the second question. That’s the point. Period. Lastly, it’s said that we’ve done away with the St. Michael prayer at the end of Mass. This has been the case in the post Vatican 2 liturgy. It’s no wonder the devil seems to be winning.

I attend a parish that uses the Ordinary Form of the Mass, which is conducted quite reverently. Yet, watching the Solemn Pontifical Mass on the New Liturgical Movement blog-site was truly awe inspiring. I certainly support Pope Benedict’s “reform of the reform” in bringing back sacred tradition to the Ordinary Form of the Mass.
