Is anyone a member of or does anyone know anyone who is a member of this confraternity?
What is the Confraternity of Saint Peter?
It is a society which gathers those who feel close to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter and who wish to support its charism through prayers and sacrifices.
Thus the Confraternity contributes to the service of the Church, through supporting numerous vocations, the sanctification of priests and their pastoral endeavours.
What does a member of the Confraternity of Saint Peter do?

Members commit themselves to
  • every day: 1) pray one decade of the holy rosary for the sanctification of our priests and for our priestly vocations, 2) and recite the Prayer of the Confraternity;
  • every year: 3) have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered once for these intentions.

No doubt there are members at every FSSP parish and chapel.

If you join you get a certificate and a pin, and you are promising to pray for the fraternity every day. However, it is made clear that you are not bound under the pain of sin to say the prayers.

It’s a good thing to do for anyone who wishes to support the FSSP and who can live up to the prayer commitment.

Thanks Will. I find it awesome that one is asked to offer up a mass at least once a year for the Fraternity. That can add up to a lot of masses. 👍

It is better to phrase that as “members are asked to have Mass offered for the intentions of the FSSP (sanctification & vocations) are least once per year.” That is, you arrange for the Mass and pay a stipend, etc.

I am a member. I do strive to live up to the daily commitment but I falter sometimes (shame on me, as one decade isn’t too much). Fatigue is my enemy. Nonetheless I became a member out of gratitude for the FSSP in Calgary, for their continued ministry, and for my own spiritual and temporal good. Further, there are indulgences extended to members on certain days (anniversary of membership, Feast of the Chair of St. Peter, etc.)

Of all the Confraternities I’ve seen lately, the CSP appears the most accessible (it’s free), with generous spiritual benefits and light obligations.

Thanks for sharing an insider’s viewpoint! What other confraternities are there?
 
I’ve been a member of the Confraternity of SP since Feb. 2008 and a member of the Holy Rosary Fraternity (Dominican) located in Portland, OR.

Its probably why I say so many Rosaries every day.

Good question. A lot.

There’s the Confraternity of the Rosary, Confraternity of the Passion, Purgatorian Archconfraternity, Confraternity of the Miraculous Medal, Confraternity of the Most Precious Blood, Confraternity of St James, Confraternity of the Scapular, oh my goodness the list is endless 😃
 
Well, I just received my certificate from the Confraternity of St Peter!

It looks like I will be praying the Rosary every day. :o

I didn’t end up buying the whole Antiphonale Romanum… 🙂

It’s actually a great book by the chant expert Fr. Samuel Weber called “The Office of Compline (Subtitle: In latin and english).”

It contains everything you need to sing all of compline. On the left of every page spread, it is in latin (and chant notation). On the right, it’s in english (again, with the same chants, adapted for the english text).

I would highly recommend it to anyone. The book is bound very well too.
 
I became a member of the Confraternity of St. Peter when it began in 2007. We used to have the FSSP priests come twice a month (and sometimes more than twice) to say the Mass-but now they don’t. And we miss them a lot!

I have the certificate, but no pin. And when I pray my daily Rosary, I offer the first decade with the Confraternity prayer. I wrote it down in a small notebook I keep in my purse, but now I can pray it from memory.

This is a great Confraternity to join! I wish I could go on the retreats which are sometimes available for members.

There’s a pin?

I said the prayer for the first time today. I just want to say that it is an honor to be able to pray for these priests. It is a honor to pray for the needs of others. And when I think that there are people all over the world praying and offering masses, it is truly humbling.

One selfish spiritual perk is that the seminarians and priests pray for the confraternity every day and offer a mass for the confraternity once a month.
