I wanted to know if anyone knows if the FSSP, or the Institute of Christ the King (ICKSP), have plans for expansion in the near future in the United States? Thank you.

What do you mean by “expansion”?

The FSSP just “expansed” the the Archdiocese of Philadelphia during the past year.

My GUESS is that the FSSP will grow faster in the US. Reason, the ICKSP seminarians need to know both French and Latin

Hi Phil, what I mean is does anyone know if either of these groups are starting an apostolate at a new church, like they did in Philadelphia, Providence, Connecticut, etc. (I’ve been to the FSSP in Philadelphia by the way, it’s beautiful.)

Four years ago, during the annual French ICRSS Lourdes pilgrimage, the prior general told us that establishing new apostolates will be done according to the number of canons they have to run them. It is the firm intention of the Institute not to overextend themselves. Given that they also wish for the canons to live in community, there would ideally be at least two canons per apostolate.* Currently, about 7-9 canons are ordained each year. When those canons are ready to lead a community, new apostolates will be established.

This year, four of the new canons are from the US. There are also two from Spain and one from France.

*Note that this is not always the case. My former spiritual director is currently running an apostolate by himself. I imagine that he will receive help when there is help to give him.
