Hello friends.

I have a couple of questions I hope you can answer.
  1. Do the FSSP seminarians in Germany and Nebraska attend school year round or do they follow a “typical” school year in terms of start and end dates?
  2. Are you aware of any books written or documentary films that have been created about FSSP?
Thanks so much!

Benedict Oblate 🙂

I would suggest going to the source; fssp.org/

I have placed my trust in these priests.
I’ve been there, but can’t find anything about the school year.

There are some YouTube videos about vocations, but I’ve not seen any documentaries.

That is why I’m here now.

Peace.

There is an email address at the bottom of the seminary of Denton USA presentation page. I’m sure they would be happy to answer your questions. 🙂

I just thought that there might be a seminarian, professor or parent here that might know the answers off hand. I didn’t want to bother the people at the seminary with a question that is simply for my own knowledge.

Thanks, though.

EXPENSES
The cost of room, board, and tuition is $7,000 per seminarian per year. This amount is greatly reduced from the actual cost of priestly formation thanks to the generous support of Fraternity benefactors. Additional expenses may include books, medical and vehicle insurance, travel to/from home during breaks, etc.

This seems to mean that they have no novitiate, and there are summer (may be other) breaks like in the regular seminaries. They also may have their own cars.

The St John Cantius has novitiate and no break, may be some visit to home. They take vows for the order.

Hello
I just applied for fall admittance. They have a summer break of 4 months, one month of which is at a parish assignment. There’s two weeks after Christmas & again after Easter, of break.

As far as a video the Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary has a three part YouTube video on their website.

If you’re interested in applying, get your paperwork in by May 17th. There’s a retreat at the end of May you must attend as part of the application process.

All this from a would be seminarian…I humbly ask for prayers.

I dropped out of high school before I got any qualifications from said school. So I need to study for the grades I have missed before I apply for OLGS, I’ll be at least another two-three years before I do so :(.

At least you’ve a goal in mind. Be diligent & persevere. Good luck with the GED I assume.

Thank you friend for the information!

Do you know if the schedule in Germany is the same?

I will keep you in my prayers and ask that God will shower you with blessings as you discern your call to the priesthood.

Peace.

I’m not sure. I know you need to be fluent in French and/or German to attend. I’d suggest contacting their vocations office.

I am part of an FSSP parish. The schedule quoted above is accurate. The seminary in Witgratzbad follows it, as well. One must be able to speak German or French to attend that seminary.
