I’ve seen a number of posts / references to the SSPX (Society of Piux X) but don’t think I’ve seen the FSSP (Fraternity of St. Peter) referred to. Any comments/info? I know the Fraternity was given the okay by Pope John Paul II.

The TLM I attend in Dallas is said by an FSSP priest. His Homilies are great and attendance is overflowing at the little chapel. The FSSP was invited to our Diocese by our former Bishop. We’re blessed to have Fr. Terra in town.

We, indeed, are blessed to have Fr. Terra here in the DFW, TX area.

The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter is a fraternity who’s says the Traditional Latin Mass exclusively AND they’re in communion with Rome, so that’s good (and necessary, in my opinion).

No, this wasn’t to find locations. I know of both groups but have been so pleased and appreciative that we have been blessed with the holy priests from FSSP connected with Rome.

I’d been surfing the net and found a one-page (I think) letter site by a priest (who also who says the Latin Tridentine Mass) and was saying some negative things about FSSP due to their connection with the Pope. I’ve only seen SSPX mentioned so far here, and for the first time realized and wondered why I hadn’t seen FSSP mentioned. Just wondered.

In my opinion it is because the SSPX is controversial and the FSSP are not. They are in full communion with Rome and are great people. I love the parish I attend and I am very blessed to have a parish dedicated to the 1962 Missal, Sacraments, etc.

The FSSP are fuly in union, and the one FSSP trained priest I knew served the NO without hesitation, but prefers the TLM. (He left Anchorage before the MP permitting the saying of it.)

The SSPX, they have lots of irregularities in their bishops and their obedience to Rome. (Like the fact that the four priests ABp Lefbvre ordained to the episcopacy were promptly excommunicated, as was ABp Lefebvre. Like the fact that the SSPX elected a superior general who was already excommunicated.)

The FSSP lack these defects.

It cannot be denied that relations between the Holy See and the SSPX are strained and irregular. It would please me greatly to see the situation rectified and full reconciliation.
