What is the cost of seminary for a priest in the Fraternity of St. Peter?

I posted this in the “vocations” section because I believe you guys would know better then anyone.

And if one wanted to help support a seminarian how would one go about that?

I believe the tuition is $7,000 U.S. per year, over 7 years, for a total of $49,000.

It’s my understanding that you can take a part-time job to help cover these expenses.

I did a quick search, and someone said $7000 per year on tuition.
How do you wish to support a seminarian? You could donate money directly to the seminary or the seminarian, or your time in helping them. Many seminarians could use help in the various missions they due during the summer.

If you have a particular wish to support the FSSP check this site out.
fssp.org/en/confraternite.htm

The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest has an “adopt a seminarian” programm: institute-christ-king.org/pages/support/AdoptASeminarian.htm

But if you not particularly concerned about supporting a seminarian who wants to be a priest in one of the indult societies, just do a search for support seminarians or adopt a seminarian, that should turn up quite a lot of pages.
Edit: In this thread, they have been talking about tuitition cost forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=181455

…contact the seminary and the rector will probably go down on his knees to thank God for such a benefactor. I make a regular donation which is small (sadly) but it IS regular…any funds are gratefully received…

In the memo line you could write something like “seminary scholarship” or “to support a seminarian w/out much support” or such.

I used to bank with an institution that had free online-bill pay. When I got paid, so did they. BELIEVE ME, it was not much at all (it shames me to admit I spent more on smokes than I did on supporting the semiarians!)… But if you consider the net effect of even ***100 people sending $7.00 every two weeks, that is $28K a year. ***That pays for four men to study, or gives 8 men half-scholarships…

***100 people sending $20 every two weeks on pay day is $52,000. ***

***1000 people sending $10 ***every two weeks on pay day (if you are paid bi-weekly) equals ***$260,000 - more than quarter of a million! *** After a decade, that adds up to $2,600,000. $2.6M!

Everyone thinks that seminaries and religous orders and such have big benefactors… And surely many do. But it isn’t just the “big dogs” who bequeath millions who make this possible. Its all the “little guys” (and I am for the record THE dictionary picture of a “little donor”) who make it possible, day to day.

It seems like a very small amount, but if you do it and encourage your friends to do so, the value of those donations in the light of eternity can’t be measured. In heaven (if you can imagine it as a place with space and time…) priests will come up to you and say:
“Thank you, your donations made my studies possible. Thank you, I met a priest you supported, and became a priest myself. Thank you,** you helped to support the **priest that brought me to the faith… that baptized my children… that taught me the faith and helped my husband and I to understand the value of one more soul… that came to me in my final hour and heard my confession and gave me last rites…”
Of course the Fraternity also is looking for members to join the Acrhconfraternity of St. Peter and commit to praying one decade daily for the FSSP. First things first!

A priest gives his life to God. The least we can do is help take the financial burden off of him and the seminaries. We need priests and don’t need anybody to be scared away from the priesthood because of financial hardship! Before entering the seminary a priest must have all his debts paid off. However, priests don’t just live at the seminary. They travel abroad on missions and need our support there as well. They live below the poverty level, $750 per month is nothing. If just 5 Orthodox Catholic families chipped in for only $150 (just a few hours of work a day for most people) per month (even for just say 6 months) our seminaries would be overflowing! Also, your contributions are tax deductible!

Also make our Orthodox seminaries your benefactors in your will alongside your children and spouse. Get your KofC life insurance rep to add them on immediately!

Smart man!

Stipends are another matter that are oft forgotten for reasons I can’t understand. $10 is the standard offering to a priest to offer a Mass for your intention. Far from “buying” a Mass, an extra $10 per day for a poor parish priest (a laborer is worth his pay!) would go along way. He may not accept more than one stipend per day, so at most he could collect $3.65K per year (which he won’t - most priests do not receive a stipend every day - I haven’t met one who has in years…)

But 5 Mass stipends a week can help Father with a lot of things. He lives on so little, and gives so generously.

Request that the Mass be offered for more vocations or for the benifit of the souls in purgatory, and blessings double. You’ll see!
