Can someone please explain to me why there seems to be such a furious difference between the FSSP and ICRSS? It seems to me that people should just accept each instead of trying to squabble over such menial problems.

But please, let’s not start flaming each other because I started this thread, I’m just baffled at this apparent incongruity here.

I was not aware there was a furious difference. Do you have a link or reference I can read to get up to speed?

Yeah I didn’t know there was a “furious difference.” FSSP and ICRSS are both very good, traditional orders. I love 'em both!

Pax Christi tecum.

Are you Father John Berg, Superior General of the FSSP?

If not, you should probably get a different user name.

If you are, welcome and keep up the good work.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was confused by this post. Since I haven’t been following this forum closely for the past few days I thought an argument might have broken out somewhere, but I looked around in recent threads and didn’t see anything. I don’t think I have ever seen an FSSP vs. ICRSS argument here at all.

I also have never heard any “fight” over these two orders. I think most people on this forum are grateful that both exist and hope and pray for more orders like them.

My guess is that it is not him. If it is him, in writing he sounds a lot different than when he speaks.

Can someone explain to me why you call yourself Father?
I read the username rules, and its confusing on a catholic site.

Are you a priest or not? And, are you the actual Father John Berg?

From the forum rules:
  1. Asserting credentials as a clergyman, religious, theologian, or legal or medical professional, on which members might rely to their detriment, when the credentials cannot be verified to the satisfaction of CA staff
I would like to see these questions answered.

Father JohnBerg, with all due respect, could you please tell us if you are a priest?

If you are a priest, then it’s great that you are giving your time to discuss and teach us about the faith.

However, your username is innapropriate if you are not a priest. By calling yourself “Father” you are misleading people. Members of this forum will assign authority to your words and you may end up causing spiritual damage to some people. Priests are our guides, teachers, and spiritual fathers. We listen to them and obey them. You should not masquerade as a priest if you have not been ordained.

It is important that you let us know.

Obviously this poster isn’t Fr. Berg. He’s probably just a fan, like people that take Saints or popes for their usernames.

Please let us know if you are a priest or not. Where did you go to the seminary. Where are you assigned. etc. etc. If you are not a priest, please do not use the name of one or call yourself a priest, as you can cause irreparable harm by doing so.
Prayers & blessings

If you are the Fr. John Berg FSSP or a different Fr J Berg, then welcome to CAF, it might be useful to post an introduction about yourself.

If you are not a Priest, then I would polietly suggest that you change your username so as to avoid confusion.

He’s not the Superior General of the FSSP. Most people with a whole lot to do don’t hang around these kinda forums.
