Ft. Lauderdale area churches

Hi everyone!

I’m considering moving to the Ft. Lauderdale,FL area and wanted to know if anyone knew of any traditional catholic churches down there?

Do you have a specific location in mind?

We live in Pembroke Pines. There are several “regular” churches. By regular, I mean you will probably see some female altar servers, hear some 80’s G&P music, etc. I don’t know if there are many truly “traditional” parishes. If you will be farther north near Plantation or Sunrise, I have a friend there that goes out of her way to go to St. Malachi rather than go to St. Gregory which is around the corner from her house. She says it is too liberal.

If you like “charismatic” there is St. Edward in west Pembroke Pines. They have a nice, big adoration chapel. We go to Blessed John XXIII in west Miramar because it is new (still meeting in hs cafeteria) and we figure they need all the $ help they can get. Not having a building means no adoration, though.

Where will you be living?

We have been looking in the Pompano Beach or Deerfield Beach area. Do you know if that’s a nice area? The church that I go to now is pretty traditional. I love the Latin mass and didn’t know if any of the churches offered the TLM?

This is a little off the subject, but I wondered if the Everglades cause a problem up in that area. By a problem I mean do you ever hear about alligator attacks or sightings? My family and I have been nervous about that.

St. Gabriel’s Pompano Beach on A1A is good. My late in-laws attended there. Well prayed in by a fairly large community of retired people.
We sent our oldest daughter to school at St. Colman’s on Federal Hwy. This was a large congregation with lots of young families.
Our local parish was St. Henry’s famous for its parish owned private pub, which was begun by the former pastor because the parishioners couldn’t stand the loud rock music played in all the local clubs. Best place in town to go for a quiet drink and a little conversation.
