Would love your opinions on the article below. Found it a really interesting comment on Vat II’s liturgy document Sacrosanctum Concilium.

…On the other hand, it is equally important for bishops, pastors, and liturgists who are inclined to view any attachment to “some previous liturgical . . . forms of the Latin tradition” as a de facto rejection of Vatican II to consider a startling irony. Not only is the Latin Mass not a repudiation of the liturgical principles of the Second Vatican Council, it may be one of the few places in their dioceses where they are actually being practiced.

Very interesting article.

I read it and found it incredibly convincing. Not only that, I think it could be argued that this article ought to be required reading for many of those here on this forum who are tempted to attack traditionalists so vociferously.

He hits the nail on the head.

If anyone is interested in who Michael P. Foley is, he is a great scholar!

(Not to mention a Catholic who appears to live the teachings of his faith!)
Michael Foley holds a doctorate in Catholic systematic theology and is an associate professor of Patristics in the Great Texts Program at Baylor University. His articles have appeared in First Things, Homiletic and Pastoral Review, Lay Witness, Crisis, The Latin Mass, Touchstone Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal on topics ranging from the four ends of the Mass to tobacco and the soul. Dr. Foley has edited or authored several books including Frank Sheed’s classic translation of St. Augustine’s Confessions (Hackett, 2006), Why Do Catholics Eat Fish on Friday? The Catholic Origin to Just About Everything (Palgrave Macmillan, 2005), and Wedding Rites: A Complete Guide to Traditional Vows, Music, Ceremonies, Blessings, and Interfaith Services (Eerdmans, 2008). He and his wife Alexandra home-school their five children: Catherine, Mary, James, Peter, and Monica.

priestsforlife is a wonderful organization. They have produced some of the finest, and most ignored, commentary and scholarship on important faith & life issues in current times, IMHO.

What does priests-for-life (certainly a good pro-life organization) have to do with Michael P. Foley’s article and Sacrosanctum Concilium?
