The Book of the Revelations of Saint John
Code:
This is the final book of God's Word and Saint John would seem to be the last of the Prophets. AND there are the prophecies of **Christ** who was and is Our Lord to this World.:ehh:

What are these prophecies, and have they or are they being fulfilled:confused: If you disagree with what is said in this posting, then you disagree, and that's fine. If you agree, then you may have some things to say that you would like to add to this posting. That's why I have spent my time composing this and posting it. Thank You. And all Thanks be to Our Lord!

As I peruse these prophecies, and many of us have done this many times in the hope of some further understanding, a simple enough story line appears to stand out. Then I think of this story as a message of the future and to the future as only Our Good Lord provides to us. Lastly then I must as we all must look to what we know of the world and make an attempt to establish some correlation between what we know of the world and what we understand of these prophecies as they have been given to us all Christian and non-christian alike. So what is this simple enough story line of the future? Does it correlate to what we know of the world and in doing so become a Prophecy Fulfilled?

In this year two thousand and seven years from the time of Christ, Our Lord, we may have cause to say that many of these prophecies have been fulfilled!
:highprayer:In the prophecies of Saint John in the Book of Revelations and in the words of Our Lord as he walked this world as Christ, there is a simple enough story line that can be well enough understood , as He would have it.
That story line is this: that from approximately the time of Christ there would be a thousand years of peace as Satan was bound in our world and then Satan would be released for a short time. Then there would be a Beast and a False prophet amongst the many lesser false prophets and false christs. Our Good Lord God Almighty would send two prophets during this time and they would prophesy together and to the whole world. And especially that they would be hated by all the people for what they said. Everything else is apocalyptic and pertains to the doomsday end of the world, to some people who must consider that Christ said that he would very definitely destroy every stone of the Temple in Jerusalem. This has not occurred yet, and the discussion in this posting is definitely NOT intended to be a discussion of the end of the world, how it ends or why, if it does or not!:doh2:
The discussion here is for people who understand the fulfillment of the prophecies and to further that understanding, Christ prophesied that he would build a Church. That prophecy is now fulfilled in the Catholic Church in Rome. There is no denying that it is there as Christ said he would put it there, or here in this world if you must say it any one particular way. Christ said that he would build the Church on a Rock and that rock would be Saint Peter. As Catholics we know that the pope sits in direct spiritual succession to the Apostle and Disciple Saint Peter. This is fulfillment of prophecy, even though it may not be so obvious to everyone. That there was Satanic affliction on the Church, that is recorded in history as the Inquisition and so-called protestant reformation. At that time in history many scholars wrote about satan, prophecies and the fulfillment of those prophecies. To some it could seem as though that correlates with the prophesied unleashing of satan at the passing of centuries that were much more tranquil by comparison. At the turn of the century 1800/1900 there was a person who was quite well known to be very demonically possessed and claimed to be the Great Beast of the Book of Revelations. This was printed in newspapers that were read around the world. He had a son who correlates with the false prophet of revelations. There have been numerous false prophets and false christs and some people can name many of them, almost back to the Time of Christ! So what about the two prophets who were to be hated, and hated by all of the people of the world for what they prophesied? Do we remember anything similar in recent history? Many, many people would have to say that we do. World War Two and two very vocal leaders of the world who for the first time ever had access to radio broadcasts and very much larger audiences than ever before.:hmmm:

WHAT are these PROPHECIES, and have they or are they being FULFILLED?????????:gopray2:??????

I would like to come back to this post and entertain the discussion on the topic of The Prophecies of Revelations that have been Fulfilled. THANK YOU!

My sincerest prayers and blessings to all of you.
And gratitude only to Our Lord.:signofcross:

Revelation describes very severe events which cannot reasonably be said to have occurred yet, for example:

{6:12} And when he had opened the sixth seal, I saw, and behold, a great earthquake occurred. And the sun became black, like a haircloth sack, and the entire moon became like blood.

{7:3} saying: “Do no harm to the earth, nor to the sea, nor to the trees, until we seal the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

{8:7} And the first Angel sounded the trumpet. And there came hail and fire, mixed with blood; and it was cast down upon the earth. And a third part of the earth was burned, and a third part of the trees was entirely burned up, and all the green plants were burned.
{8:8} And the second Angel sounded the trumpet. And something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast down into the sea. And a third part of the sea became like blood.
{8:9} And a third part of the creatures that were living in the sea died. And a third part of the ships were destroyed.
{8:10} And the third Angel sounded the trumpet. And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch. And it fell upon a third part of the rivers and upon the sources of water.
{8:11} And the name of the star is called Wormwood. And a third part of the waters were turned into wormwood. And many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.
{8:12} And the fourth Angel sounded the trumpet. And a third part of the sun, and a third part of the moon, and a third part of the stars were struck, in such a way that a third part of them was obscured. And a third part of the day did not shine, and similarly the night.

So my interpretation is that these events are still in the future.

Also, I think that the tribulation is divided into two parts, the lesser and the greater tribulation (as they are called). The first part is for our generation, and the second part is for the distant future.

Benedict XVI’s Homily on the Assumption

"…Who could stand up to this omnipresent force that seemed capable of achieving everything? Yet, we know that in the end it was the defenceless woman who won and not egoism or hatred; the love of God triumphed and the Roman Empire was opened to the Christian faith.

The words of Sacred Scripture always transcend the period in history. Thus, not only does this dragon suggest the anti-Christian power of the persecutors of the Church of that time, but also anti-Christian dictatorships of all periods.

We see this power, the force of the red dragon, brought into existence once again in the great dictatorships of the last century: the Nazi dictatorship and the dictatorship of Stalin monopolized all the power, penetrated every corner, the very last corner. It seemed impossible in the long term that faith could survive in the face of this dragon that was so powerful, that could not wait to devour God become a Child, as well as the woman, the Church. But also in this case, in the end love was stronger than hate…"

“Take Heart, It Is Love That Wins in the End!”

There are four major interpretive approaches to the Book of Revelation:
  1. Preterist view - In this view, the Book of Revelation has already been fulfilled in its entirety within the lifetime of the original readers (1st century). Thus, it is past to us.
  2. Idealist view - In this view, Revelation dramatizes the struggle of the spiritual life. It is a timeless work, not historically bound. Thus, the “events” described are something that we all go through to some extent or another on our spiritual journey.
  3. Historicist view - In this view, Revelation gives us a panoramic view of the Church in the world throughout history. It is Church history painted with apocalyptic symbolic imagery. Thus, some of the events have happened, some are happening, and some will happen.
  4. Futurist view - In this view, Revelation gives us a visual preview of the “end of days” - of what is to come. Thus, the entire book awaits fulfillment as none of the events have taken place yet.
Of course, some scholars take a combination of approaches (such as interpreting chapters 1:1-20:6 in the preterist sense and chapters 20:7-22:21 in the futurist sense).

If you take the preterist view, then you would see the prophecies of Revelation as being descriptive of the Roman persecution under Nero (encompassing the martyrdom of many apostles and the destruction of the Temple). The beast would be Nero (numerically, “Caesar Nero” adds up to 616; a number of ancient texts had the number 616 rather than 666 as the number of the beast).

Of course, those who take the futurist view or even the historicist view are the ones who tend to generate the most publicity.

:yup: Thank you very much, Joe
and blessings to you.:crossrc:

What can I say about an addition to my posting as good as this?

I can think of no better start than to categorize the view of revelations that I have put forth here, and I put your contribution to this thread at No. 1 in every way. Thanks again, Joe!

**THIS POSTING HAS NOW BEEN CATEGORIZED AS AN HISTORICIST VIEW OF THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS AND THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES THEREIN.**
I have to mention that this is a very scholarly reply and the composer is quite knowledgable on the topic. This is a very good beginning to a discussion on the Historicist view of the fulfillment of prophecy, and the book of Revelations and the words of Christ, and correlations to our modern times. There are more correlations that some people talk about that have to do with the seemingly more frequent occurrances of and even the size of recent natural disasters.

“Take Heart, It Is Love That Wins in the End!”
:yup: This is a good link and a very good reference! Thank you, epostle and blessings to you.:crossrc:

And by the way, I really like your moniker, epostle. I don’ t know that Our Lord himself could do any better at coming up with a good moniker! Some people must be jealous! A little bit, anyway.

Like I said this is a good link. An interpretation of the bible and especially of prophecy is requisite to have a place to start. Then a person can go on to collaborate the fulfillment of that prophecy with a reference to an interpretation. Why are there prophesies and what are they there for? All I can say about that is this. When the prophesies of the Messiah were being fulfilled, there were some who knew that the prohesies were being fulfilled. Some of them became the Twelve Apostles, disciples of the Messiah and amongst the highest of Saints!
Collaborating our modern times to the prophesies of Revelations does require a reference. What better reference can there be for the purpose of collaborating prophecy than the most recent and most knowledgeable interpretations of the prophesies that are to be correlated? There may be something, somewhere only slightly more recent, although it is not likely that there is anything available more knowledgeable than word from the living head of the Church, Our Pope Benedict XVI:bowdown2:

Now that I have made this comment, about another very good addition to this discussion of the fulfillment of the prophsies of Revelations, I can say that this discussion has began with a foundation of rock. This discussion is now categorized and referenced to the most recent and authoritative interpretations. What a blessing!
Thank you for such a timely reference, epistle!
And a link to go with it. A very welcome contribution to the topic of this thread.

:blessyou:

:hmmm: I would like to add a little bit more to this thread. The topic may soon find more discussion than I can comment on or reply to. What correlations to what prophesies are we talking about here you might say!?!?!?!?!?

The prophecy of Christ.
That there would be a Church.
Correlation.
Now there is a Church. The Roman Catholic Church now has over a billion members world wide. That is almost one-quarter of the world’s population! The Roman Catholic Church sits in the seat of the Catholic Church and of the Christian Church in Roma, Italia, as it has for many centuries and can offer the most genuine proof ever yet in history of the continuance of the Church and its leadership since the time of it’s founding and the time of Christ.

The prophecy of Christ.
That He would build the church on a Rock and that Rock would be Saint Peter the Apostle and disciple of Christ.
Correlation.
Every Pope, from the day of the passing of Saint Peter to this very day, Today has passed on not only the leadership of the Church with no interruption, the popes have passed on much more. Some of us accept as a matter of faith that the spirit of Saint Peter mingles with the Spirit of the pope to guide him as he leads the Church, and what could be more solid and rock-like than a leadership like that for over two thousand years now? The only answer? Nothing. In fact there are no other similar stories in all of Human history. We are living this story this very day, as a part of the Church, and as a part of the fulfillment of prophecy.

The prophetic revelation of St. John.
That satan would be bound for a thousand years.
Correlation.
From approximately the year 250 AD to the Year 1250AD.

The prohetic revelation of Saint John.
That there would be a character and/or characterizaton referred to as the Beast, the one character of the book of Revelations that stands out more than any other, and has been the subject of much interpretation.
Correlation.
Do you have Faith? How much Faith do you have ? You’re going to need a lot of FAITH to go on with your life in the world today to know this and to accept it as fact. What this is, is that the Beast not only already has been in the World, he was a real person and a very demonically possessed one at that!

The prophetic revelation of Saint John.
That there would be a False Prophet.
Correlation.
The very human son born to the Beast was the False prophet and was alive and at work in the world until only a few short years ago. He was very directly associated with the founder of a recent, very large and quite unpopular cult that is well known in theworld today. Hang on to your Faith. Hang on to every last shred of any Faith that you have.

The prophetic revelation of Saint John.
That there would be two Prophets of God who would Prophesy in the World at the same time. The impression given of these Two Prophets, is that they would prophesy until they were done prophesying, they would prophesy things that no one liked, that they would prophesy to every one in the world and that they would be disliked so much that it could be said that they would be hated while they were alive and then even more once they had passed, and that no one would listen to them, that the message of the prophecy sent by Our lord to save the people and peoples of the world would not be heard.
Correlation.
During World War Two , for the first time ever the world was brought together by airplanes and radio. And at the time that it was brought together, there was no single solitary figure who rose above the crowd in the minds of the people. Of the many figures who rose above the others, there were two sources of activity known by the people of the world everywhere in the world. The seats of the Two Prophets, Japan, or Nippon as it was called, and Germany or Deutscheland as it is called. The social upheaval occurring around the world not so long ago, acquired two vortexes, or vortices using the proper plural. The simultaniety and duality of these vortexes correlates to the Two Prophets of Revelations. Since they were to be sent by God with a message to save people from satanic influences, each and every one of us humans alive in the world in this Day have this opportunity to use our Faith and make it into FAITH and use this prophecy of a prophesizing to discern this message that could be so invaluable to all who worship Our Lord.

This is not intended to be a call to action, only a call to discussion. Discussion is among the forms of communication and communication is not only vital to us Humans it can be crucial. This forum and the information technology accessable to the world sometimes lack substance in their day to day use. The Lord be Willing, the discussion on this thread may be of some use to Him and to those who participate and even to every one in the World. I have added some detail now, and there have been some initial contributions to this dicussion topic that were very impressive. At least they were very impressive to me! Thank you.

And thank you not to bog the discussion down with useless debate over the veracity of the Historicist view of the fulfillment of the prophecies of Revelations.

I will do what I can to add comments with any replies to my original posting of the thread of this topic as time passes.

THANK YOU and THANKS to the Forum administrators.
:highprayer: Even more thanks to Jesus Christ, Our Lord and much acceptance of the blessings of the Spirit of God:signofcross:
