Just a guess, but someone here does/has done this. How do you fit the complete Rosary (of the traditional 15 mysteries) into the day? I’ve been thinking of adding more than a single set (chaplet) of them to my daily prayers, and any helpful tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. This being October, the month of the Rosary, it seemed the perfect time to at least try this.

Set aside an hour a day. 😉

I imagine there are many ways to do it. You could pray a set before each meal. Or you could get up a little early and do it all. Or just find fifteen minute breaks in your schedule here and there/ Doing it right before bed never works out for me. I always fall asleep. :o

Of course, praying 15 decades of the rosary in one day is challenging enough, but I would encourage you not to count out the Luminous Mysteries. They are part of the rosary, too. 🙂

I have been trying to do the same thing. When I’ve done it, I spend my morning commute saying the Joyful Mysteries, five little breaks during the day in which I said one decade of the Sorrow Mysteries each, and spend my commute home saying the Glorious mysteries. It’s definitely possible, though not easy.

It takes me about 25 minutes for one set, that’s including opening (Dominican Manner) and closing prayers. I think St. Louis De Montfort, in The Secret of the Rosary, mentioned something about praying a decade here and there throughout the day to get the complete Rosary in. Currently rereading it, but haven’t seen that part yet.

Yeah, they’re an option, but I don’t think an option that would be possible to do and not neglect other responsibilities.

I don’t have a morning or evening commute (family caregiver), but could do basically the same early in the morning and before going to bed at night. Five little breaks throughout the day…will have to try that. Thanks! 🙂

I sometimes pray the rosary as I lie down to sleep. I do not sleep easily so it’s possible for me, but for someone who falls asleep easily it might be challenging, but It’s still worth a try.

I can barely manage one mystery when lying down. Sometimes it’s hard to stay awake even in a chair when praying it at night. When the house is quiet and I’m the only one up, walking while praying the Rosary has helped. Or, sitting at the kitchen table. Those chairs don’t have enough cushion for anyone to fall asleep while sitting on 'em. Still, before bed is another good time to do it. 🙂

Just wanted to update:

I found some time to fit in a few decades here and there throughout the day. My Mom has to use a nebulizer three times a day, and I don’t know if it’s the medication or the noise of the compressor, but I sometimes get headaches from it. Usually I leave the room while she’s on it, which is for 15-25 minutes, perfect for a little quality time with Jesus and Mary!

That does seem like a great time for it. God bless. Pray for us. :o

God bless you too.
I put everything in the Virgin Mary’s hands (via the simple act of consecration just on the inside of The Secret of the Rosary) and I’m sure she’ll take good care of all of us. 😃

I live by myself, no wife no children. am not a member of the clergy. I sometimes listen to all four sets of mysteries on a christianica cd. Sometimes i stretch out when i am listening or straighten up my apartment a bit - organize my belongings.

Each recorded scriptural rosary is around 22-23 minutes long so i can get possibly an hour of stretching out accomplished along with twenty some minutes of straightening up. If my back is a little stiff or has a slight kink in it, i might do torso twists with a broomstick/mopstick minus the broom/mop for 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

After doing this for awhile last winter, I was able to do a stretch called the plow: Google images: the plow. I am 37 years old. A plow type stretch is not safe for people with back problems or hypertension.

It is really not that difficult to find enough stretches to use for 45 minutes or more. do this with your arms to stretch them out, do that with your arms, do this with your legs, do that with your legs, some stretches standing, some stretches lying down.

in that past i have done some simple resistance band/resistance tube exercises in my apartment while listening to the christianica recorded rosary scriptural cd as well.

Although I’ve found it manageable to pray the full traditional 15 mysteries, I feel I’m missing out on the Luminous ones. So, I think I’m going back to praying a daily set of mysteries, and doing what I call “Lectio-Rosary” in another thread. (LINK)
This way, I can get more of the Gospels into my daily reading, maybe even the rest of the New Testament, and also have Mary’s help in doing it. I’ve tried Lectio Divina in the past, and it never seemed to work well for me. The Rosary is my favorite prayer, and praying the decade with a slow and steady rhythm helps in many ways. For one, it’s like a timer, and keeps me from moving on to the next bit of reading too quickly. 🙂

The rosary was supposed to be equivalent to the 150 psalms in the olden days. so yes 15 decades daily is best 🙂 it takes about 1 hour for entire 15 decades.

I pray the Joyful in the morning followed by a Saint Michael Chaplet, then at 2:00 I pray the Sorrowful, at 3:00 the Divine Mercy and at 9:30 the Glorious. Being retired helps.
