Another pro-abortion Catholic? Where do these people come from? VP Joe Biden, SOTH Nancy Pelosi, HHS Kathleen Sebelius, Senators Kerry and Kennedy, numerous governors… and now a potential 6th Catholic on the SCOTUS.

Why bother with the rule of law or claim a personal conviction anymore? It is a joke in America at least.

In my opinion, Obama is a more harmful enemy to the Catholic Church in the U.S. than the KKK or the “Know Nothings” ever were. He is using his personal popularity to elevate dissidence within the Catholic Church; in effect, encouraging the formation of an alternative “American Catholic Church”; a dissident one.

When I was growing up, the KKK was still around in my neck of the woods, and mainline protestantism was practically the official religion. But, as a Catholic, you knew who you were. The threat and the harm were external. Obama is far more clever. His effort to destroy the Catholic Church in the U.S. is internal. He knows full well that many Catholics (through personal complicity with abortion or bad catechesis or simply “selling out” for personal advancement) oppose the Church’s teachings, and not just as regards abortion.

The Church in the U.S. is in for a very bad time during his administration. This is not Obama’s first torpedo to hit the Barque of Peter, and it surely won’t be the last.

Nor will it be the biggest. Sooner or later the MSM will do one or more major expositions about the “Two Catholic Churches in America” and the unfaithful protagonists will all be in positions of power and prestige. True Catholicism will not fare well at their hands.

Agreed though I liken him closer to Jim Jones in methodology…

Agreed again though I question his cleverness and think it more basic in that his personal religious conviction is akin to his misreading of the 1st Amendment. They think setting aside their personal religious convictions in order to be in public office/life is a strength of character rather than a lack of it.

I have hope still it has the opposite effect so as to cause real public debate. I am reminded of Tolkeins Trilogy when Sauraman declares to hostage Gandalf that he is no longer Sauraman the White, but now Sauraman of Many Colors when he revealed his tratorist cooperation with the Dark Lord. Obama is like this maybe unintended in that he embraced (granting his claim is genuine) the ‘real Christianity’ from which his mixed religious/agnostic upbringing influenced greatly to conclude the Catholic Church is nothing more than a sect of Christianity whose core tenets are dangerous and/or outdated . Barack of Many Colors may eventually be seen by others for the wizard I think him to be.
