Hey, what’s up? I just converted to Catholicism (From Judaism), been reading a lot of books, downloaded an app for my phone with the Recordings of Ven. Fulton Sheen, English is not my native language, he is hard to understand sometimes, but he’s great!!! what do you think of him? Which books of his are good? Thanks:thumbsup:
 
I agree with you that Ven. Fulton Sheen is amazing! I enjoy listening to him as well as the Mother Angelica Live shows on EWTN. Unfortunately, I have not yet looked into any books he has written since I have a pile to books to go through first before my husband will let me buy anymore. lol

I’m sure someone on this forum will be able to give a good list of books. 🙂

Shame we don’t have EWTN in Israel…😦
 
Have you tried streaming it through their website? If you have a Roku, they also have an app so you can stream and watch older shows as well. EWTN also has an app that you can download onto your phone to stream or listen to radio…just make sure you are on wifi…unless you have unlimited service.

I just searched Google and it looks like they even have an app at the Apple store as well if you are an apple fan.

If there is some kind of block you could try CatholicTV as well. They are also on android, apple and roku.

Hopefully there isn’t some kind of IP block that would prevent you from checking these out…oh! both are also on Youtube.

I tried it once… their schedule is not so correct with the app, I just checked we do have a Christian TV channel I’m not sure if it’s catholic though…called DayStar
 
If i’m not mistaken it looks like DayStar is a non-denominational.

Probably your best bet would be to look at the recorded shows on the app, Roku, or Youtube instead of the live streaming.

I personally like to watch the recorded shows instead of the live streaming because I always lose track of time and can never catch any shows on time.

You should look into the Roku. You can plug it into your TV and watch it from there instead of on your computer screen. It isn’t terribly expensive and you don’t pay monthly for it other then your internet bill. I’ve gotten rid of my cable since all I care to watch is on the Roku including Anime…not sure if you’re into that stuff.

what is Roku? it’s just to make a Smart tv no?
 
It’s a device that lets you stream video to your T.V. Like the Apple TV or the Google TV in case you have heard of those. The Roku comes in USB format or a little box that you plug into your living room TV. Depending on the model you could connect the Roku to your internet via WiFi or Ethernet plug.

Just know that SOME apps having a monthly fee but they ALWAYS ask so you know if you are going to pay or not. However, there are many channels that are free, especially the Catholic ones. 🙂 Netflix and Hulu+ is on there too as well as Amazon Prime if you’re into that.

I don’t have access to a TV with EWTN either, so what I have done is joined their channel on youtube. This allows me access to a lot of the inspiring speeches great people of the Church have made about our faith. BTW there is also a Catholic Answers channel on youtube, did you know?

The problem is my TimeZone, the Himilies and Mass gets uploaded only in 12AM my time…I sleep in this hour of the night.:(:confused:

I have yet to see a SmartTV with catholic apps or even allow me to download catholic apps. Nor allow me to watch Anime on Crunchyroll, as well as many other apps. I’ve only seen SmartTV with apps such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Yahoo News, YouTube and Facebook. I’ll take a Roku over a SmartTV any day. I have thousands of more app to choose from then whatever is pre-installed on a SmartTV.

Interesting so it’s like to have an american cable tv hmm I’m just not sure it’s possible to watch it outside the US

I just did a Google search for “Roku in Israel”, and I got a few results that seem to indicate that it’s available. Here’s one of them: rokuchannels.tv/israellive/
