My young friend if you want the truth, just take a look at my blog articles beginning with My Testimony because I went astray and out of the church for about 35 years. I nearly became a Southern Baptist preacher and was a deacon in an Assembly of God church, so I know enough to know why anyone seeking the fullness of truth cannot believe that trash on that site. (I didn’t even have to read it…I’ve heard and seen all of it before.)

I want you to take a careful look at several of my articles that refute that same kind of anti-Catholic propaganda and take note of the facts and the scriptures I cite.

Here are some links to specific articles.
Here’s a piece of free advice.

Stay away from any site like that. You gain precisely nothing at all from reading that sort of baseless a-C propaganda.

So it’s the next morning, and I’ve re-read my post. I’m glad you find it very helpful. It’s only a very high level response to the article you posted, and there are some things I wished I phrased differently. A Catholic biblical scholar or theologian could provide much more depth, or Catholics with real education in the matter. I suggest following up on the reading recommendations in this topic for further detail.

I appreciate this.

Well, I’ve been on a struggle between Fundamentalism and Catholicism for about 2 years now. I’ve never abandoned the Church, and have maintained in a state of grace and attended Mass as required. But in the back of my mind, the fear of Hell has not gone away. I have heard the claims of Fundamentalists that this Church is a false religion, and I have read the responses to many of the claims on Catholic Answers and various other articles. I saw this today, and it sums up many of my doubts. This seems to be a very radical Fundamentalist and I don’t know if I can shake the fear on my own. Please take a look if possible and just help me be sure that our Church does not lead to Hell.

This was the article: atruechurch.info/catholicism.html
Man was made for communion with God, and yet we’re born without this communion; humanity is separated from Him spiritually since the Fall. This means we’re born without knowledge of, let alone faith in, hope in, and love for God. The reason Jesus came was to restore this inimate relationship, reconciling the Creator with His wayward creation, so He may abide in us as was always meant to be.

The purpose of the Catholic Church is simply to tell us about God and our need for Him and His offer of relationship in order to restore harmony and justice within us and His universe ultimately. He is the very source of life and life abundantly for man, a life of peace and sheer boundless happiness. And the Church then helps us on our way back home to Him, throughout our lives. This is historic Christianity. Is that wrong for some reason? Does the Fundamentalist do that? Does he do it better?
