I apologize if what I said was offensive to you. That was not at all my intent. However, I also have several alcoholics close to me and my wife as a young girl witnessed seven divorces between her parents and step parents due to alcohol. What I have witnessed is what I said above. So please don’t treat me like I’m totally ignorant and your the resident expert. Alcoholism can take many different forms. Just because that is your experience does not make it the rule for all.
Except the way you stated your opinion you made it sound as you were speaking about *all *alcoholics. You didn’t same some alcoholics, you spoke if as all alcoholics fell into your assessment of what their problem is. There are several alcoholics on my husband’s side whom I would consider have a “personality disorder” but I believe their personality would be same whether they drank or not. My husband’s father doesn’t drink at all and his personality is the most “disordered” of all.

I’m truly sorry your wife had to grow up in such a difficult enviroment. We were very lucky that my husband was able to get sober while our daughter was still very young. But even when he drank he was not a “mean” drunk. He didn’t have a problem with people and he’s always had a good heart. I adore him and am incredibly proud of how strong he is to overcome his addiction. To say I am sensitive to those who treat alcholism as a personal weakness, when I saw him battle so long and so hard to stay sober before God blessed him with the grace to finally overcome it, is a massive understatement.

I accept you apology, and I’m sorry that I came across as treating you as ignorant. In future you may want to begin such statements with “In my experience…” because others may have had very a different experience then you.

Don’t worry. You won’t to hear any additional comments from me, period. I think if anyone has a “personality disorder” it’s ME for wasting my time on these forums arguing with prefect strangers who don’t know the first thing about me.

I think it’s time for to buy a good book to read and get a life.

Merry Christmas everyone.

When you have that many passages about a certain act then it is safe to say that God would not approve of a mind-altering drug called alcohol. Drinking alcohol is a carnal act. I find that praying is a great way to relax myself. Better yet, when I praise God I become even more peaceful.
?
Your arguement is circular. You have decided that alcohol drinking is a sin, so therefore Jesus couldn’t have drunk wine, no matter what the bible says.

There is something wonderful about the fact that Jesus was not a constantly dour man but was able to sit down with his friends and relax with a glass of wine. God wants us to enjoy ourselves and have fun. Of course we must do things in moderation, but we can still have a couple glasses of wine or a beer with friends, laugh and have a little fun.

I am not saying that teetotalers can’t have fun or that one must drink alcohol to do so. But if I choose to have a beer or a glass of wine then I am doing nothing wrong and committing no sin.

Give me ten good reasons why alcohol should be legal? ?
Our country tried to make alcohol illegal. This didn’t work. Crime actually went up.

Has anyone found any texts in the Jewish Faith that says the Seder Meal can have anything other than four cups of wine? I mean, it not only has to be wine, it has to be a certain type of wine, made a certian way.

This is all pointless unless there is.

john the Baptist
was a Nazirite
yotor.org/wiki/en/na/Nazirite.htm

one who amongst various other things abstains
from alcohol.

Jesus did not consecrate himself as a Nazirite.
Further at the Wedding of Cana, an insightful
read has the Wedding Manager raving about the
wine and about ‘having saved the best for last’. Adults rave about alcoholic wine at a wedding
feast. Children might rave about great Grape Juice,
but unlikely.

If there is any uncertainty about all this, it is comfort
in knowing that the Apostles would have known this
issue intimately and it was transferred to an Institution, namely Christs Catholic Church. Its called a tradition.

Beeline has set me thinking.

Nazarites took a vow to abstain from wine, and vinegar. To not touch a dead corpse, and to not cut their long hair. The vow could be but wasn’t normally for life. How could someone abstain from something that they weren’t supposed to have anyway? If alcohol was not allowed in the ancient Jewish culture then how could the Nazarites abstain from it during their vows?

If I say, “For thirty days I will not touch drink alcohol.” Doesn’t that mean that I will drink wine when my vow is up? Why would I abstain from something that I didn’t do anyway? What would be the point?

Not only did Jesus drink wine but he was accused of being a drunk

Matthew

Matt.11 Verses 18 to 19

[18] For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a demon'; [19] the Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds."

Isaiah 25:6-9

6 The LORD of Hosts will prepare a feast
for all the peoples on this mountain —
a feast of aged wine, choice meat, ** finely aged wine.**
Code:
7 On this mountain
[He] will destroy the [burial] shroud,
the shroud over all the peoples,
the sheet covering all the nations;

8 He will destroy death forever. **
The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears**
from every face
and remove His people's disgrace
from the whole earth,
for the LORD has spoken.

9 On that day it will be said,
"Look, this is our God;
we have waited for Him, and He has saved us.
This is the LORD; we have waited for Him.
Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation."
Revelation 7:17
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
