Mr. Chick Track doesn’t even deserve to be given a respectful title of being a fundamentalist.

Oh, man, I have quite the collection of these things floating around the floorboard of my backseat. I don’t know what it is about me that little old Christian ladies find so upsetting, but it seems like at least once or twice a month when I go to Walmart or the mall, someone walks up and hands me a Jesus tract or leaves one on my car. I didn’t know they were properly called Chick tracts. You learn something new every day!

Personally, it used to offend me a little bit, but now I either tell them no thanks or toss them in the backseat and forget about it. The only time I have ever really gotten angry about it was when I told a guy “No, thanks” and he decided to stick it in my jeans pocket anyway. Not cool.

Honestly, I prefer the way the local campus crusade goes about proselytizing. At least when they came up and offered to tell me about their religion unbidden, they gave me an adorable little day planner thing with bible verses in it. That’s actually useful.

Just to clarify…not all Christian tracts are “Chick tracts”. Chick tracts are produced by Jack Chick…are generally cheaply made…black and white…with cartoon pictures.
I’m sure that other Protestant ministries produce tracts that are not so offensive to Catholics.

Yea - DEFINITELY not cool.

I don’t consider them rude. I think Catholics should view it as an act of concern and kindness, even if it is misguided.

If only more people were as daring in trying to evangelize. Seriously, you may think I’ve gone mad saying that, but anyone handing out that those tracts is being brave. They are trying to do the right thing. At the very least give them kudos for that.

You don’t have to get sassy at them because they made a mistake in discernment. Easy enough for anyone to do, and people do it all the time… just like making fun of people who hand out chick tracts is a lack of discernment on the issue of charity. Its also a lack of discernment on the issue of sinful pride. Do you think its funny that someone who is searching for Christ has got it backwards and may find themselves in hell one day because of it? Do you think God didn’t see that snide sense emanating from your soul?
Good word
