So sorry to hear about his passing, I grew up loving his song Baker Street.
May he rest in peace :signofcross:

What a great voice! Loved the band & their steel guitar. They played music I never got tired of hearing.

Right Down the Line

"You know I need your love
You’ve got that hold over me
Long as I’ve got your love
You know that I’ll never leave
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind
And it’s been you woman
Right down the line

I know how much I lean on you
Only you can see
The changes that I’ve been through
Have left a mark on me
You’ve been as constant as a Northern Star
The brightest light that shines
It’s been you woman right down the line

I just wanna say this is my way
Of tellin’ you everything
I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of tellin’ you
That every day I’m lovin’ you so much more
‘Cause you believed in me through my darkest night
Put somethin’ better inside of me
You brought me into the light
Threw away all those crazy dreams
I put them all behind
And it was you woman
Right down the line

I just wanna say this is my way of tellin’ you everything
I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of tellin’ you
Everything I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of tellin’ you
That every day I’m lovin’ you so much more

If I should doubt myself, if I’m losing ground
I won’t turn to someone else
They’d only let me down
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind
And it’s been you woman
Right down the line"

What a lovely tribute. While he didn’t lead on vocals on this one it remains iconic

Stuck In The Middle With You - Stealers Wheel (Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty)
youtube.com/watch?v=DohRa9lsx0Q

Well I don’t know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain’t right,
I’m so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I’m wondering how I’ll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

Yes I’m stuck in the middle with you,
And I’m wondering what it is I should do,
It’s so hard to keep this smile from my face,
Losing control, yeah, I’m all over the place,
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Well you started out with nothing,
And you’re proud that you’re a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please… Please…

Trying to make some sense of it all,
But I can see that it makes no sense at all,
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor,
'Cause I don’t think that I can take anymore
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Well you started out with nothing,
And you’re proud that you’re a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please… Please…

Well I don’t know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain’t right,
I’m so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I’m wondering how I’ll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you,
Yes I’m stuck in the middle with you,
Stuck in the middle with you.

I can’t believe it’s already been a year since he died. I was reading some news articles from last year about his life and some of what I read was just heartbreaking 😦 He always struck me as being humble and genuine even before I knew much, if anything, about his feelings toward being a “star” and so on. If there’s anyone I look up to, he’s definitely up there, if not at the top of my list 🙂

I think he said it be best here: 👍

RIP Gerry. I will keep your soul in my prayers :gopray2: 🙂

I LOVED right down the line!
I’m glad the lyrics are posted on this forum-- “Right Down the Line” has always reminded me of the Blessed Virgin–my heavenly Mother’s always been there for me, even when I don’t deserve it.

Curiously, whenever I have been feeling down and thinking how little I appreciate and have wasted the graces I’ve been given, and I’m not the person of prayer I know I should be --this song finds me --sometimes broadcast in a store, sometimes on the radio; and I know through this song Mary is encouraging me not to give in to sadness and stop trying.
