I don’t find any modern sitcoms funny compared to some of those in the past. However, I think there are a few funny commercials today. My favorite is the Geico ad with former basketball player, Dikembe Mutombo, who says things such as “Not today” and generally wreaks havoc on several people, including a child, as well as hitting and dislodging the letter “G” in the Geico sign at the end of the advertisement.

Do you have any commercials you think are particularly humorous, whether old or new?

Have you seen the Geco commercial with the drill Sargent Therapist? Or the one with Abraham Lincoln on honesty?

Was the drill sergeant therapist commercial for Geico? I forget. The one with Abraham Lincoln and his wife, I think is hilarious. I also like the pig commercials for Geico more than the gecko ones.

Moderators, it just occurred to me that since this thread does not directly relate to Catholic values (or does it?), perhaps it should be moved to Back Fence. Your call, of course.

The Mutombo one is hilarious. http://i821.photobucket.com/albums/zz133/Zafyr_photo/gifs/smiley/Rofl_16c.gif

My current favorite, however, is the AT&T one with the “more vs. less” girl.

Yes!! Geico Drill sergeant therapist commercial

and of course the pig one as well

The Geico commercial with Mutombo was hilarious. The Abraham Lincoln one was, too.

I like the Greek yogurt ones with the Grandmother, as well.

I like the one for the convertible VW Beetle with the guy with the ski mask buying stuff at the convenience store.

Japanese commercials are known to be very quirky. Like this. Speaking of ‘quirky’, this was an advert for a Buddhist temple in Chiba prefecture. (I once actually lived nearby this temple, and all I can say is, it’s not as weird/funky as its commercial. :D)

This probably won’t mean much to most as its Australian. It was a Yellow Pages advertiesment some time ago, Actually there were a few humorous Yellow Pages Advertisements.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

A bunch of young people are watching a video of a wedding of one of the couples. Of course the girls are all going ga-ga, while the blokes are all bored witless, and rolling their eyes.

Suddenly the video breaks down. One of the young blokes looks up Yellow Pages and makes a phone call. We know the repairer can come tomorrow, but the young chap puts him off. The next call is a week. Again he puts him off. The third call is three weeks.

He turns to the others and says, “Sorry, three weeks”, much to the girls’ disappointment.

Of course neither he or the other young blokes want the video fixed, so they haven’t got to sit through the rest of the weddding shots.

One of the funniest commercials I have seen has this old man playing golf out on the field. His red sports car is in looking distance, in the parking lot. A blond woman drives up, gets out of the car with a sledgehammer, and starts beating up the car. The old man is shocked and doesn’t know what’s going on!

The woman says a few things as she’s smashing it, suggesting it’s payback against her cheating husband. But then her husband, a young man, pulls up in a red sports car identical to the old man’s, and asks his wife what she’s doing.

I forget what the company was, but it was hilarious. 😃

The thing about many of these funny commercials is that they’re so good, one forgets what product the commercial is for. Sometimes they call too much attention to themselves. I’ll look for the one you mentioned. Thanks!

Sounds like Snickers or Southwest.
