Funny: Misheard hymns?

As a former Anglican, I give partial credit to that song for giving me a desire for heaven.

With “All Glory, Laud, and Honour,” laud is often mispronounced “loud.”

Eucharistic preface: "…we dwell (do well) always and everywhere…

As a kid, I thought that the name of the great Ella Fitzgerald was (a thousand pardons, Ella!) “Elephants Gerald.” I won’t even go into the jingle from Cal Worthington’s car dealership commercials.
 
This isn’t a hymn, but as a child, I always did wonder how the “Communion of Saints” (as in the Nicene Creed) was different from what everyone else got :o

That’s so hilarious!!! I had a similar thing going with that hymn when I was a little girl, but in a different section. When I was about 3 or 4, our teachers put on a Christmas concert and had me sing “Silent Night” as a solo. As I was learning to memorize the song I thought “Holy Infant, so tender and mild” was “Holy infantso” breath “tender and mild.” I remember always thinking, “What’s an ‘infantso’?”

he was singing,

I was born in 1968, so in my childhood, I was heavily influenced by television shows of the time…

Our Father, Waltons in heaven…

Maybe it was a request as to what kind of programming televisions stations in heaven should carry…

(In case anybody understands Swiss German, but I’ll try to translate) my brother came home from kindergarten one day saying they had sung a song “mi Gotte isch so gross, so stark und so mächtig…” (“my godmother is so great/big, so strong, and so powerful…”). Of course the song was “mi GOTT isch so gross…” (Gott is God in German, and in swiss German we call our godmother our “Gotte”)

my sister thought that “setting all the captives free” was “setting all the cactus free”

This cracks me up! I immediately thought “Wow, free range cactus!”

No, but I remember -

“Come into my heart, Lord Jesus;. Come in today, come in to stay;”
(which I don’t remember singing both ‘today’ and ‘to stay’. I think we sang an abbriviated version of it. I think we only sang ‘to stay’)

I could never figure out if it was “today”, “to stay” or “tuesday”. 😃

I heard some Pentecostal group singing this once, but it was right outside a restaurant so I thought they were singing “Bringing in the cheese.” What do kids know.

I tried to make sense of the Latin. I wondered who Pacco Monday was I heard it as "On this day we tol’ pacco monday Misery… (i didn’t get the rest about what we told him

When i was real little we use to go swimming at the University’s pool that was for women at the time. My dad called it “womens” so that is what I thought Mary was blessed Amoung THE POOL
