Funny story about a Latin at a Ruthenian parish

Several years back I went to a Catholic conference and a local Ruthenian parish had a booth there. The ladies that were running the booth were mostly Latins who changed rites or Latins who were simply just attending there.

Anyway, the lady, who was not aware that I actually knew something about the Byzantine tradition, explained to me different aspects of the tradition etc.

Then she explained to me that the parish was raising money so that they could get an ICONOCLAST for the Church. :rotfl:

You should have pointed them to the Protestant church down the street and tell them they’d do it for free :D:D:D:D
 
I don’t think you need to know anything about any Eastern tradition to know what an iconoclast is. 😃
 
The young ladies probably meant iconostasis.

They probably just forgot the word, and instead of just gracefully drawing a blank, they tried to pull one on the visitors and use a word of impressive enough length.
