I appreciate all of y’alls comments (can you tell I’m from the South?). I agree, it is ironic about the Rosary being on the page, but we also have some denominations that use a chalice in communion, so that part isn’t too surprising…
… But not with a PURPLE BAND round it! I want you to tell me of one Baptist or AoG or AME-Zion church that uses a Chalice with a purple band around it!!! (and I’m from Savannah, BTW).

You know guys, I am a Protestant that is leaning towards becoming a Catholic. I believe that I am a servant of God, not some hell bound sinner. I personally don’t appreciate these “funny” attacks you are making, and I wouldn’t appreciate them if I was a born-into-the-Church Catholic. These attacks are just plain wrong. …
no harm intended JohnDee

I don’t recall anyone saying that you’re hell bound

just that some squatter had an interesting choise in graphics

surely your irony meter must have been pegged with that page

Okay, I’ve recovered - tears were literally running down my face. One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen!

I agree, its funny because its so real. It has nothing to do with bashing the average protestant in the pew, it is about the phony “teachers” who go in front of the camera and put on a show. Selling the Gospel for a profit, plain and simple.
There are true pastors like Billy Graham, but they are far and few between. The rest are nobodies, yet when they get in front of the camera they act this way, the way the talk and wave their hands is so sad. Those phonies act as if the people watching at home are a bunch morons.

If I am ever feeling down I just put on a movie like that and Im fine.

I wasn’t referring to those denominations (the Baptists are notorious Pope-haters from waaaaaay back!), but I was thinking more along the lines of the Lutherans, the Episcopalians, and the Anglicans (for some reason there is a difference, if only in the US). Since I haven’t been a member of any of those denominations, I can’t comment about the bands or the lack thereof. There is one other thing about Protestant.org that we have all failed to realize: the “religious” items placed on the banner are commonplace if for no other reason than Hollywood shows so much stuff having to do with the Catholic Church in movies and on TV that we don’t “see” it even when it is staring us in the face! I own and read (am reading!) a Catholic Bible, and I know other people who aren’t Catholic that own and occasionally read one. That makes the link to Catholic Bibles not too extreme. We Protestants (well, most of us anyway) believe that Catholics are Christian, that they are going to Heaven, they know Jesus and His Word forwards and backwards. You guys just have some weird beliefs about Mary and praying to the saints (dead people, for crying out loud!), keeping Christ on the Cross…

I DO NOT THINK LIKE THOSE PEOPLE!!! I do believe that the Church has it right, that Mary is the Mother of God, that the Saints can hear our prayers (you should see the faces of some of the Southern Baptists around here when I say that) and I know why Christ is on the crucifix (it shows that His sacrifice was REAL, not some show; and it reminds us that He is both devine and human). Yeah, I still have some problems with Purgatory, but I think I am coming around on that one too. I am still learning about Catholicism and faith and Jesus and God because I want to serve Him (and you!) and the best way to start, I think is to end my ignorance. I just turned 45, so I am getting a late start, but better late than never!

As for the Robert Tiltons of the world, sometimes I wish TV had never been invented! Billy Graham is one of only three preachers on TV that I can stomach! His son Franklin is another, and Charles Stanley from Atlanta is the other one. Don’t try to get me to watch Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Bob Tilton, or any of those others (men and women) because I will walk out. Sorry, I had to vent. My wife and Mother-in-law watch this stuff religiously (oooh, bad pun!), but I can’t.

Now, I know that Tilton is not very nice, but I also believe that the people that made those videos of him breaking wind (another Southern term!) will gladly do the same to legitimate preachers, and I also wouldn’t put it past them to do the same to the Pope. I did see on one website where they were taking bets on when Pope John Paul II would die. These are not nice people we are talking about here! They have no understanding of Christ and His sacrifice, or of our faith, just that we are not a bunch of Liberal, left-wing wacked out weirdo atheists like they are. If we go to their websites, and if we laugh at the doodoo (yeah, I said doodoo!) that they put out, then we are no better than they are. They get paid for the number of hits to their sites, and we are just putting bucks in their banks if we keep it up.

Anyway, back to my original thought, please just think about what you are going to say before you say it! That is ALL I am trying to say, it just somehow got lost in various translations!

Still praying for you, still learning, still searching for Him!

In Him, may you all be blessed this fine evening! :gopray:
