Does anyone know of a book or article (here assuming that such is a) fully in line with Church teachings and b) geared for the uneducated laity ) that further explores the meaning of Psalm 23, particularly regarding the context for the time/setting it was written in? Thanks in advance.

I too would like info on this psalm. In the Office of Readings, the phrase “my cup overflows” is translated as “how excellent is my chalice, warming my spirit” (I think it is from a reading by St. John Chrysostom?).

I love the latter translation, but don’t know if it is a better one (not just literally, but as far as true meaning goes). It sure “speaks to me” more.
