Hi girls!

Its over a year until my wedding its going to be in October 2008 - we are graduating this year and starting new jobs so it seemed better to wait until we are set up properly particularly as I am insistent on having a new house to move into after the honeymoon (new house new life!) But i am soo excited I have so many wedding books, planners magazines! etc!

We have been going through a ‘Preparation for Marriage’ book which has been very helpful (little quizzes and q&a’s) and helped to bring together our lifes before we met and our lifes now!

I think your dress is amazing! I want a similar style dress although I want one in Ivory and gold! My budget is kind of going out the window we are budgeting for about 20K and having about 50 guests ( Im going small but expensive!) I plan on having the ceremony in the chapel of my local church (Im very lucky in that my local church is a cathedral!). The honeymoon is actually going to be in the states we are hoping New England so if their are any new englanders any advice would be well recieved!

Anyhow sorry for the detailed post but I am sooooo excited!

Goodluck to all the soon to be weds and congrats to all the newly weds!

God Bless!

lotusblossom- I would love to see a picture of the Holy Family prayer cards with bells if you have a digital camera & can get them online. I still have about a year until my wedding but that seems like a great idea!
Maybe you can purchase lotusblossoms “lefovers” 🙂 . Waste not, want not!

I’ll try to get a picture on here tonight once I’m home :).

Are you wearing a mantilla veil in that pic? I have one but it’s ivory, so I might have to get a white one to match my new dress. I’m scoping one out on ebay.
Yes I am! I loved it so much and I found mine on Ebay. It was much cheaper than the ones I found in the stores or other online shops. If you pm me I can tell you what seller I bought it from.

Here you go! Hope they’re not too small for pictures…if you want bigger ones email me and let me know! I bought the cards online (which if you’re having a small wedding, I’ll definitely send you our extras!) and then the bells at Target for like 5 for $1 and we put stickers on the bells with our names and wedding date and then the periwinkle ribbon tied them together (our colors were periwinkle and yellow). Hope this helps! 🙂

Does anyone know if brides are required to wear veils at the nuptial mass?

Lotusblossom- Those are beautiful. My fiance and I were urged by our priest to start a devotion to the Holy Family and giving Holy cards of them would be perfect! My wedding is going to be pretty large (200ish), but if you are really looking to getting rid of them PM me. 🙂

I don’t believe so…as the veil represents something that is not related to the Mass. None of the priests ever brought it up, so I’m guessing this was a non-issue. However, I’d ask your pastor just in case :).

I wouldn’t think so…esp. since there is no longer a specific directive that women MUST cover their heads for Mass in general (well…people will fight to the death with you about that but…whatev.) Like Lotusblossum said, it’s not specific to the Mass, it’s one of the traditions that comes from a more cultural standpoint, just like wearing white, etc. I normally wear a mantilla for Mass, and at my wedding I basically wore a chapel length mantilla with a blusher attached.

Wedding talk? Yes please! 😃

I have picked my dress- having it made by a seamstress friend.
http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?cat=6&type=0&sec=70&startrow=1 It’s #6379. It’s so cute, I am a sucker for lace. Next month she is getting started with mine and my bridesmaids dresses which is awesome.

Also in the next 2 weeks I am seeing 2 possible reception venues. Can’t wait to get that out of the way.

In 2wks we have marriage prep. I haven’t heard very good things about my parish’s marriage prep from my siblings but we’ll see how it goes.

Aaannnddd I got my pocketfolders for my invitations! So cool- just need to get the information to put in them 😛

We’ve already got photographer, church, DJ, bombonieres, etc. fortunately.

Question: Is anyone having a Nuptial Mass, but without a majority of guests being RC? My FH is converting so his entire side won’t be able to receive with us.

Yay weddings! :yup:

I am a convert and we had a Nuptial Mass. The Eucherist is such a part of our lives that we didn’t want to not have a Mass. We just made sure to talk to my family about what to expect and ask Father to kind of gently explain things as he celebrated the Mass. It ended up working out wonderful and everyone was happy!
