 thanks brother but I can consult with my medium if I want my dreams interpreted.🤷
I’m doing just fine thank you. But find it odd you would say this when some have made it their personal mission to go on and on about what the SSPX has done to their faith and family and life.

I know you mean well, but I do not need you to psychoanalyze me. At least not with this silly little dream that I wanted to share.
I also had a dream that I was QB for the Denver Broncos and was a spy.
I guess I am personalizing Skyfall and football.😃
Excuse me. I didn’t mean to offend. You are right. I should not have said anything. I accept the correction. 😊

Brother, I am sometimes challenged by you, sometimes taught by you and sometimes annoyed by you. Thanks for all of the above! I wish all who offended acted that way. Heck i wish I had the maturity to act as you do sometimes.
Thanks Brother.

I am not sure that the SPPX would have reunited even if Pope Benedict had been in office another 10 years. Or if they did it would splinter them and only a small group would come over.

It is even less likely with Francis as his focus seems not to be the liturgy.

The SPPX recently finished a huge seminary in Virginia. Housing hundreds of seminarians. With another eventually planned for the Western US. That doesn’t seem like something they would do if they were fairly certain about eventual reunion. Too, they recently opened a new church in Washington DC.

Look how long the East/West have been trying to reunite?

So far Pope Francis has been characterized by his reaching to those who are the least of the children of God and the most needy. It would seem that the SSPX will have to have to accept any normalization by taking the initiative to lay down their opinions for anything to happen. I see no change unless the SSPX were to simply change and surrender, which I seriously doubt will happen. His Holiness is not going to wait for them to come to the feast. He is already going out to the prisons and the streets to bring in those that will come in.

This is so sad. I am sorry to know that they have built the seminary near here where we have a good and orthodox bishop. I will continue praying for reconciliation and add prayers for the people of Charlottesville.

Perhaps he should pay a visit to them as well. They are as much in need as those in the prisons and the street because they are in a prison of a different kind and making.

Hmmmmm maybe there is hope after all!
I cannot think of anything more needy and least than being irregular with Holy Mother Church. If Pope Francis really is the change we see and the humble man who reaches out to the disenfranchised and those who are turned off by the Church then the SSPX could be at the top of his list. I would think it a stroke of genius to do what he has done in just a few weeks and then add the SSPX to the agenda.
In business it is said that the right answer is when you negotiate a deal where no one is happy.
The Traditional crowd is up in arms right now. If the Bishop of Rome were to reach out and do the things he is doing now. There would be less outrage FROM BOTH SIDES if he brought in the SSPX. BXVI dealt with this problem and had a near revolt on his hands. Not to mention the PR disaster of lifting the excommunications and how the focus ended up being on Williamson.
Think of it. Francis the outsider, the humble, the man who is not a liturgical minded person would not be attacked as much if he were to bring them in.
We are finding out that despite what we think or dont think the SSPX was a HUGE part of the BXVI pontificate. I don’t think it will just fade away. And they have been unusually quiet on the SSPX side of things. While other Traditional people have been slipping on their own froth over every thing the SSPX has been rather reserved. Especially for a group that has loved running to the media with leaked documents and statements. I could be wrong, they could release some rhetoric in the next few weeks that will make my post look foolish. (they have before) But I choose to be hopeful and charitable about it and assume the best!šŸ˜‰

That would be good, but I do not see that as his focus at this point. They are already the invited guest who have not chosed to come to the feast. The invitation is already there. Any SSPX priest could decide tomorrow to start seeking a regular priesthood within the Catholic Church. The fraternity could decide tomorrow to embrace any role the Holy Father would have for them in the ministry of the Church.

PNewton, when did you and the Holy Father discuss his plans for the future and what he would focus on? Hmmmmm??? šŸ™‚

The irony is that you are drawing on the parable Jesus and the wedding banquet which is traditionally looked at as being the inclusion of the gentiles after the Jews rejected. and you are placing the SSPX in the part of the Jews.
I appreciate the irony given some in the SSPX’s view on the Jewish faith.šŸ˜‰

That is a rather silly question. Obviously I have not talked to him. Please ready carefully, one word at a time. ā€œI do not see that as his focus at this time.ā€ If you note, this sentence mentions ā€œIā€ as the subject and ā€œseeā€ as the verb, as in ā€œto perceive.ā€ Thus, I am giving my perception. I also qualified this with the phrase ā€œat this timeā€, as I follow pretty much all His Holiness does in these first few weeks of his pontificate.

You do not see it? Fine. Perhaps you care to link where the new pontiff has addressed the SSPX since his installation?

It was meant to be a silly question. Why do you appear to be so hostile?

I came back to clarify - it almost sounds as if you don’t want them back in the church. I am not saying that you don’t, but that is how your posts sound to me. šŸ™‚

If I knew what sounded hostile, I might be able to clarify. I do think that the door is ready to be opened by anyone, ala Revelation 3. If you go back to the first post, for example, the boat has not sailed, nor can it, while we draw breath.

If you are referring to my word by word description, I did that simply because I could not understand how what I said could have possibly be misunderstood.

Ironic yes, but the interpretation fits doesn’t it? They are too busy to respond, or see their role as too important (preserving eternal rome) to come to the party.

The wedding feast parable continues to when the host throws out the person without the wedding robe on. I have a feeling the SSPX may be waiting to see if that happens (with a priest who ad libs the EP in the role of the man without the robe) before they consent to join.

But, unlike the older brother in another parable, they might not get that extra chance.

At this point, seeing the direction that the Holy Father somewhat clearly intends to lead the Church in and the SSPX’s recalcitrance to come back into full communion even with the extreme good will of Poope Emeritus Benedict, I don’t really see a future for the SSPX within the institutional Church. I just don’t think it will happen at this point.

Given the actions of the past several days, I would venture to say that most of the SSPX and the people that frequent their Chapels are horrified. To them, it would certainly appear as if the spirit of Vatican II had been re-born and was working in a frenzy to make up for the time it lost under John Paul II and Benedict XVI.

In fact I can clearly imagine an SSPX Priest delivering a homily in which he says that tthe Holy Father really wasn’t making a joke when he said that hoped the Cardinals who elected him would be forgiven.

Sad days for the SSPX.

Their own fault, but still, sad days.

I will tell you the truth, I allowed myself to get caught up in it and was all set to return to them. By the grace of God, I know myself enough at this point to know how my mind works and what starts me off and running in a mindless and emotional frenzy right back out of the Church.

Long story short…God is good. Something Brother Jay wrote and that I read brought me to a screeching halt.

Thanks Brother Jay for everything. šŸ‘

You know, I’m old cantakerous and crochety. I often have very strong opinions and as do most of us I tend to believe that mine are all valid and correct.

I too find in Brother JR a source of wisdom and normalcy that brings me back to reality in most cases. I would think the Brothers that are under him must feel truly blessed to have him as a Superior.

I thank you also Brother. Very much more than I can tell you.

Lomar, SO glad to hear this! :hug1: I am still praying for you. I am also still praying for the group here in VA as I promised.
