This is great news! Anyone have on any theories why?
Because people are seeing through the “pro-choice” facade. Pro-choice is the choice a woman wants to murder her unborn child who is denied choice and the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

59 Percent of Americans Want All, Most Abortions Illegal
Pity courts still disagree. 😦

As does the administration.

But it’s also a pity that out of that 59 percent, at least about 19-20 must have voted for Obama or else he wouldn’t have won. Guys, just stop voting for pro-choice candidates already. Please. No matter how cool they seem to be. No matter how nice they talk. Or how crude the pro-life candidate appears to be. Or how much he annoys on the less than most important issues.

The people of my generation understand that their very existence could have been taken away in the name of “choice” before they were even born. We look around and know that 50,000,000+ of our peers are missing.

Poll: 59 Percent of Americans Want All, Most Abortions Illegal

Washington, DC – Yesterday’s Gallup poll on abortion had most of the media focus on the fact that the number of Americans declaring themselves “pro-choice” had fallen to a record low. But the poll also offered more good news for the pro-life side – most Americans want most abortions made illegal.

This is unfortunately an inaccurate skewing of the poll by lifenews (much as I would love for it to be true). The rest of the data (shown here) indicates that 52% of Americans polled still favor abortion being legal under “certain circumstances,” hardly the “most Americans want most abortions made illegal” slam-dunk that lifenews.com is claiming. In fact, I’m not sure where they got the following from:
The poll found 39 percent said abortion should be legal only in a few circumstances and 20 percent said it should be illegal in all circumstances, for a total of 59 percent who want all or most abortions illegal.
That doesn’t appear to be reflected anywhere in the poll.

Still, good news that the current majority (50%) polled consider themselves “pro-life.” Now if they’d only vote that way.

The Supreme Court needs to get some Pro-Life men in there.

To make sure the candidate is really Pro-Life, we have to check his voting record. After all, “Action speak louder than words”. Whatever thy say they cannot deny what they voted for.

God Bless.

If you go to the Gallup poll results, you will see that people’s attitudes regarding abortion have not actually changed.

What has changed is that more people are calling themselves pro-life. Whether this change in how they identify will lead to a change in their attitudes remains to be seen.

"Pro-Choice" Americans at Record-Low 41%
While Americans’ identification as “pro-choice” has waned over the past year, their fundamental views about the morality and legality of abortion have held steady. Half of Americans, 51%, consider abortion morally wrong and 38% say it is morally acceptable – nearly identical to the results in May 2011.
Gallup’s longest-running measure of abortion views, established in 1975, asks Americans if abortion should be legal in all circumstances, legal only under certain circumstances, or illegal in all circumstances. Since 2001, at least half of Americans have consistently chosen the middle position, saying abortion should be legal under certain circumstances, and the 52% saying this today is similar to the 50% in May 2011. The 25% currently wanting abortion to be legal in all cases and the 20% in favor of making it illegal in all cases are also similar to last year’s findings.

Hmm…being discussed here (actually started by the same OP a day later) and here. Any way to merge these?

You have to visit the full poll results to see how the 59% figure was reached.

See question 12.

The Gallup summary of the results adds together the responses of those who think abortion should be “legal under most circumstances” with the responses of those who think abortion should be “legal only in a few circumstances.” In contrast, the LifeNews article added together that latter category with the responses of those who think abortion should be “illegal in all circumstances.”

LOL. By the same token, you can take the response to question 11 and say that “77% of Americans think abortion should be legal in some or all circumstances.”

Way to go, LifeNews.

It’s getting pretty obvious even to the oblivious that things aren’t working very well the way we’ve been living. Over 50 million babies have been killed since 1973, hardly the “safe, legal and RARE” motto that we had drummed into us back then. Rare, when 50 MILLION babies have died???

:bighanky:

The higher quality of ultrasound images may play a part.

What I fail to understand is how the media can see a slight uptick in approval for gay marriages and read it as presaging the inevitability of acceptance of gay marriage, yet the same media types can see a far greater drop in the acceptance of abortion on demand and do not proclaim it as signaling the end of abortion in America. 🤷
