C’mon, you can count it–Is it in Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, or Philemon? Those are called the captivity Epistles because Paul speaks of being in prison at the time of writing each of those.

(Just so you don’t think I’m a smarty-pants-know-it-all, I’m cheating. I used the information from the editor at the beginning of Romans to come up with a question that would narrow it down.🤓 )
 
Q4 (is it a captivity epistle) - yes, it’s in one of those four epistles.

Q4b (cuz you wouldn’t have asked if it was in romans if i had answered Q4 correctly to begin with) - no, it’s not in romans.

(every time i say ‘i don’t understand sarcasm’, there is a remote possibility that i’m being sarcastic. i know these things are lost sometimes in email or msg board posts. if you knew me, you’d know that, when in doubt, jeff is being sarcastic. in fact, i often find myself having to say ‘i’m NOT being sarcastic. i really mean what i just said.’ because everyone assumes i’m being sarcastic when i say things. it’s especially problematic when i tell someone they’re doing something right…)

The problem with sarcasm is when we’re sarcastic we use words we don’t really mean. I’ve got the same problem. The husband of a freind once looked at me as if I was the worst heretic after a letter to the editor I wrote was published. Sarcasm is a verbal skill so often misunderstood…

But I digress…So is your verse in Philippians chapter 1?

ah, sarcasm. that sweet ambrosia… but truly - when i tell my coworkers that they’re doing a good job, they look at me like i’ve said something horrible to them. and then they say ‘are you being sarcastic??’ and i have to assure them, repeatedly, that i’m not.

because almost every other thing i say is sarcastic.

Is it Philippians 1:18? What difference does it make, as long as in every way, whether in pretense or in truth Christ is being proclaimed? And in that I rejoice.
