I have never seen this term

The “Catholic Epistles” are simply those epistles that are not written by St. Paul (James, Jude, 1 & 2 Peter, 1-3 John). They are called “Catholic” because they are adressed to the body of Christians as a whole, and not a specific church or person (as St. Paul’s were).
