GAMES: Considering Starting a Catholic Guild in WoW

Hey guys!

OK, I’ve been thinking about starting a guild in WoW for a while, and I wanted to a) run some ideas by y’all, b) wanted to know if anyone is interested in participating in this project (from an organizational/leadership), and c) wanted to find out how many folks here would be interested in joining such a guild.

So, I’ve been playing WoW since it was released, and I have a level 70 protection pally in a small, close-knit Christian raiding guild on Thunderhorn. I would start the new guild with my 31 warrior. (That provides an opportunity to grow a character with guildies…)

Here are some initial thoughts on guild structure:

Guild Name: Defenders of the Faith

Guild Ranks:

Page: Initiate
Squire: Regular member
Knight-Apostle: Senior member
Knight-Marshal: Officer
Knight-Elder: Assistant GM
Knight-Guardian: GM

And then there are some questions to answer…
  1. RP or PvE? There are some benefits to RP servers in that we could pray out in the open, hold open religious ceremonies that mirror Christian tradition, etc.
  2. Which Server? If PvE, then Thunderhorn? It might be nice to be on the same server as my raiding guild, so we could partner with them for raids, heroics, etc.
  3. How much personal conversation on spirituality would we encourage, in guild chat, on the forums, etc.?
So… thoughts anyone? If you have ideas, or would like to participate in this project, please let me know!

I have been playing in scyers as a RP. Could I switch servers? Yes, I am a computer illiterate.

I am a 17 level rogue, not high I know, but I would gladly sneak around for the guild.😛
 
Hi,

I play on the Baelgun realm, which is PvE. Please let me know if you decide to start a guild, I’d be interested in joining. If you start the guild on a server other than Baelgun, that’s ok. I can always make a new character on whatever realm you choose. Will your guild be Horde or Alliance? (I’m guessing Alliance. 🙂 )

Regarding servers, I’m thinking Thunderhorn if we go PvE, and Shadow Council if we go RP. The rationale is that I have connections with raiding organizations on both of those realms, and that would provide more opportunities to get involved in end game content if that may be of interest to our members.

Personally, I am really interested in growing with a guild, so I would be willing to start a new character myself so we could all play together. 🙂

Ooh, tempting, but I am afraid my WoW days are still over.

If the rumors about Bioware doing a new Star Wars based MMO (Knights of the Old Republic, hopefully) then I may be looking for something like this for that game, but that is not due out until 2009 and no one knows what the setting will be yet.

Who knows though. I may get curious and want to check out WoW again some day…
 
Although the last thing I need is another alt (:P), I’d love to join if you start something up. I’d have to start from scratch, though, as I’m too cheap to transfer an alt to a new server. 🙂 I mainly play on Feathermoon, so I’d prefer an RP server over PvE or PVP.

I’ve made a night elf druid on the Shadow Council realm. My name there is Essindwen. Whisper me. I’m going to start playing this character so maybe I can advance a few levels by the time you’re ready to start collecting signatures for the guild. The higher I am, the more of an asset I’ll be to the guild. 🙂

Ahhhh… sorry I took so long to reply – wound up getting knocked off my feet from the flu. bleh.

OK, so I did some research, and it turns out that my old raiding alliance on Shadow Council sortof peetered out. I guess with the way BC is set up, with heroics and smallish-group raids, maybe it’s not such an issue, as we could build the capabilty ourselves (eventually – I’m in no rush at all. 😉 )

You know, as I started looking into it, I wonder if there are any Christian guilds that RP at all. It might be novel enough to just start a Christian guild that RPs, with the premise that the guild is patterned after Medieval Christian guilds. Our members would be expected to serve the community with love of the Light, and their love would bear witness to the Light. What do you think?

Oh dear… after doing a little more research, I am a little worried about the quality of RP on Shadow Council. I started to look into other options, and it looks like Feathermoon and Sisters of Elune are pretty active RP-wise… Should we pick one of those? Maybe Feathermoon since Wanner is already there?
 
OK, thanks all for your thoughts on this… after speaking with several folks here and in WoW on multiple servers, and a whole lot of prayer, I have finally figured out what to do about starting a WoW guild.

The original concept still holds:

This will be developed on the RP server Sisters of Elune. The reasons for this server are manifold:
  1. SoE has a new RP guild made up of players who share in Christian fellowship with each other. The guild is called “The Lightwell,” and after I spoke with an officer from this guild, we were both very encouraged about the prospects of working together – sharing RP events, grouping together, etc. She gave me the name of the GM, and I will contact him/her ASAP.
  2. The RP activity on SoE looks to be very healthy. Lots of opportunities to be creative.
  3. When I posted on the SoE forums looking for other Christian RP guilds on the server, most of the replies were very respectful and helpful – something that made a very good first impression.
So… I will transfer my 33 warrior and 60 priest to the server to get started.

Priest’s name will be Ceanna… Not sure what my warrior’s name will be… will keep you posted!

Oh no… I transferred a character to Shadow Council last night. 😦 I should have waited and checked this thread first!

Guess I’ll just start a new alt on Sisters of Elune, then.

That’s fine, I already have a priest on Sisters of Elune. I’ve had him for a while but haven’t played him yet, so now would be a good time, it seems. His name is Darith. Look me up there. I’ll be looking for Ceanna too.
 
hello, just wanting to find out the status of this guild dof on soe? I applied last night. Family and I started new toons on soe realm last night. We might move main toons to soe, which are around lvl 50’s.
