My Grandma who is 89 had surgery yesterday on her gullbladder and they sent her home immediately after surgery which is dumb if you ask me. Anyway needless to say she collapsed and her blood pressure dropped and she became incoherent and my uncle had to call the ambulance. Meanwhile my mom was holding her.

In a moment my Grandma became coherent for just a couple seconds and said to my mom “Teri” and my mom said “what?”
And my Grandma said “There is a pretty gate, and there are angels.” and then she sort of passed out again.

Today she doesn’t remember saying it nor does she remember any of that stuff going on.

Whether or not it was her mind playing tricks on her we will never know. My faith tells me it is real and I find the story very comforting. That is why I thought I would share. Hopefully this brightens your day as it has mine.

Three days before my grandma passed away, she had talked with my mother few times about “going Home”. About 5 hours before she passed away, her face was brighten and happy after receiving the Eucharist.

That’s awesome. I love hearing stuff like this it makes me so cheery. Thank you for sharing! It sort of is an affirmation of my faith for me.

I called my Grandma at the hospital today to ask for more information about the angels and the gate but she didn’t even remember saying it although she liked hearing that she did. I wish I could’ve heard more about it or been there to hear it when it was said. Here she was, near death, and she was calm and happy about the angels.

yes, sometimes things like this help us spiritually; however, do not think too much over this. Take whatever your grandma saw and see it as a sign that you keep her in your prayer throughout the day until she is up there seeing God and angels in person.

I am still praying for my grandma everyday. I don’t want to personnally canonize her if you know what I meant.

yes, sometimes things like this help us spiritually; however, do not think too much over this. Take whatever your grandma saw and see it as a sign that you keep her in your prayer throughout the day until she is up there seeing God and angels in person.

Oh don’t worry you’re not personally canonizing anybody. It’s just a lighthearted post about things that have happend. I am not thinking to much over this either it just really brightened my day. It would have been neat to hear more about it, that’s all.

Gall bladder surgery is usually done laproscopically on an outpatient basis these days.

I was kept the day before and day after because I’m diabetic and they wanted to carefully monitor and control my blood sugar., and I’m really surprised your grandmother wasn’t kept longer because of her age.

To be fair it was a laproscopic surgery, however, she IS 89 years old and every surgery she has had in the past has had complications. I think that means she is a high risk patient. My cousin and my aunt, who are both nurses, told me she is high risk but I am not sure how they define it.

Personally I think anyone over 60 should be kept at least one night just because they don’t ‘bounce back’ as well as younger people do. Of course there are exceptions but for the most part I think this is true.
