What color vestment did your priest wear on the third Sunday of Advent: Violet or Rose?

St. Patrick in Nashua, NH went with Rose.

Ours wore purple, as we don’t have rose colored ones.

I believe that purple is an allowed alternative.

Yes, violet is an allowed alternative.

For the posters where rose was worn- was it a reddish-rose or a pinkish-rose?

we don’t have any rose vestments in good shape, for advent we use a rosy purple, for lent a darker true violet purple.

Pinkish Rose

It was so cool.

Violet

The altar cloth and the chalice veil were a lovely rose color.

The visiting priest who celebrated wore purple; the pastor who came to help at communion time wore a lively printed stole with rose in it. It was a bit on the jazzy side but not so much as his southwestern style stole or his rainbow stole…Reminded me of a tie belt pattern I’d seen at J. Crew.

Our pastor refused to wear the older rose chasuble we had. He got rid of it. For years he just wore violet.

But this year the parish aquired a new rose colored one.

I thought that deeper blue/violet was the proper color for advent and the more reddish purple color was supposed to be for lent.

Rose is appropriate – violet is allowed.

Unfortunately, in some places, rose is replaced with various shades of pink; of which I have heard “Pepto-Bismol” Pink and “Shower Curtain” Pink.

If you’re going to do Rose – and I hope you do – make sure that it is ROSE!!! You DON’T want your Pastor looking like a cheap, Wal-Mart Shower Curtain!!!

The altar cloth is always to be white. Maybe you were talking about hte super frontal?

You can call it rose if you want, but it looked pink to me.

But then I’m partially color-blind.

The deacon wore a dolmation of rose.

The priest wore a color my granddaughters claimed is Barbie Pink. Poor Father.

I don’t know what you mean by rose as a rose can be any colour but our priest wore pink.

Father wore violet, but at the end of his homily, he mentioned that the norm for the day would be rose, although the violet was allowed. He even joked that he retrieved the rose vestment from where it was packed away, but after putting it on, he realized it ‘wasn’t his color’, so he opted for the violet. He did mention that the candle in the advent wreath was in fact rose so we were “ok”.

Pinkish rose.

I couldn’t help but say “Real men wear pink!”

I love our Priest, he is so Holy and such a wonderful example of our Faith. Thank you, God, for Fr. Leon. :bowdown2:

My priests and the deacon all had rose vestments on. I wore a rose colored tie for the occasion.
