"Gay-Friendly" Catholic parishes

Yes, it sounds incredible. But I was searching the internet and I found a site which has a list of supposedly “gay-friendly” Catholic parishes, so needless to say I was floored when I found it catholiclesbians.org/pastoral/pastoral_orgs.html .

I don’t know about the other parishes listed there, but I can confirm that the Jesuit Urban Center in Boston and St. Joan of Arc parish in Minneapolis MN do in fact openly support the homosexual agenda. I am not sure how they got that way or why they continue to be, but is sadly the case. We have to pray for them, as well as for their priests and bishops. 😦
 
No surprise that California has the more than any other State. :rolleyes:

I blame wayward & weak Bishops for not cracking down on this sacralige.
 
Joan of Arc is constantly a thorn in the foot of our bishop. Take a look at their website…its crazy???

Here is their mission statement. Is the word “Catholic” missing from there intentionally?

Dear Mjohn,
Sounds very politically correct. Many people seem to think that ‘tolerance’ and ‘inclusivemess’ means throwing church moral teaching out the window. They’ve swallowed the garbage put out by the secular media, hook, line and sinker. They think ‘diversity’ means accepting any lifestyle, and want to throw out the Catholic Catechism and replace it with the book “I’m OK, You’re OK”.
 
I think those in the Phoenix Diocese will soon be off that list. Our New Bishop has been very aggressive on that matter.

I am not suprised that there are a number of gay friendly parishes out there, because there are a fair number of gay and gay-friendly priests out there as well.

The priest who was killed on 911, Fr. Judge was very gay friendly.

Outside of that, one coworker of mine who was in the seminary told me that there was a remarkable amount of homosexuality going on there, although it didn’t bother him because that was his orientation.

Similarly, another co-worker told me of a priest he was talking to in a local gay bar.

Its not that unusual, I’d be suprised if there weren’t any gay friendly parishes out there.

It is the problem of Gay Men in Seminary that has resulted in the Sexual Abuse Scandals. The Press likes to refer to them as Pediophiles but they do not really meet that criteria in most cases - the youth molested in most cases were of puberty age and common prey for homosexuals.

Under New York, my parish is listed although the name is spelled incorrectly.

I had written to the Bishop about the fact that our parish is listed in the bulletin and on the Internet (our web site as well as on search engine returns) as “GLB friendly”. His response was that he and the pastor “see eye to eye”.

Openly advertising for homosexuals is to blatently flaunt the prevailing dissenting attitude of the pastoral council.
 
I just checked out the so-called gay parishes in Ohio. I didn’t see any in our diocese, but some around Columbus, which is the gay center of Ohio. That’s enough to make you sick! Talk about weak willed bishops!
 
The Church listed for Washington State is also on the Rainbow sash website. I had a student from that parish once. She claimed that she and her partner had a union ceremony there (done in her home only because the Church was booked that day) and that they were active in ministry there (Baptism prep specifically).

The really sad thing was that she didn’t believe that any of this was against Church teaching. The parish had been led to believe that this was how the church was now and that silly things like not allowing practicing homosexual, couples living together or divorced and remaried people to receive the Sacraments were a thing of the past.
 
Something is gravely disordered in the US Church. I also wonder whether our bishops read these forums?
 
Hearing all this about seminary is really scary. I myself am considering the priesthood and it would be very discouraging to see that going on. I think if I was in seminary and someone was openly gay or openly supporting the gay/lesbian agenda I’d flip a lid and go straight to the bishop. How can this happen? Are we going to let professing murderers and theives become priests as well?
 
The book “Goodbye, Good Men” by Michael S. Rose is a must read. He explains how the decline in vocations in the priesthood is connected to the radical liberalism that has infiltrated the seminaries. That active homosexuals are welcomed and even preferred to orthodox seminarians. How “self-fulfillment” has replaced “self-sacrifice”. They have a death wish for the male, celibate priesthood… It’s shocking at times and sickening but I find that it explains a lot.

To Nucatholic - there are names named and there are also seminaries listed that are orthodox and teach the true Church doctrines and tradition and always have - these have had increases in vocations.
Let’s pray for major reform in all seminaries so that the priesthood will once again be attractive to many good men who will be loyal to the Church teachings.

If your bishop is Orthodox, contact your local Vocation Director. If not, contact Catholic Answers directly or even EWTN.

Talk to the Archbishop of Newark. He earned a “reputation” for accepting seminarians from out-of-diocese when he was Bishop of Peoria – he ordained more priests than any other bishop in the country. He’s definitely OK.
 
I would hope every Catholic parish is gay friendly, divorced friendly, addict friendly, prostitute friendly, tax collector friendly, politician friendly, because if not I know I will not be welcome in my sinfulness. But I hope no parish or pastor would ever confuse welcoming and friendliness with approval of any conduct of mine which is sinful, hurtful and scandalous. I would not consider a friend anyone who failed to warn me of any deadly danger I was facing, and who failed to love me enough to guide me into right paths. Jesus came to call sinners, and I know I am in the right place if I am among my fellow sinners. Reminds of those gyms where I don’t dare go to try and get fit because everybody there is so thin and fit already. I can’t find any instance of Jesus telling a sinner to go ahead, persist in your sinful ways. His message always seems to be, go and sin no more. I’m trying, Lord I’m trying.

A parish that advertises and promotes itself as “gay friendly” is giving open approval to the active lifestyle. I’ve never heard of a “prostitute friendly” or “addict friendly” parish where the pastor and other religious are not trying to convert the parishioners from their sins or where the parishioners came in with their “johns” or where the addicts come in high.

Jesus absolutely ate with sinners but his message was to “sin no more”. That is the same message of our Church. Priests who condone this are openly dissenting from Christ’s teaching.
