Gay Oreo cookie gone viral

Ok so there is a picture of an Oreo cookie with rainbow in-between than below that a picture of a regular Oreo with white in the middle. The caption say something to the effect that there is no surprise they hated black and white couples as well.

I have heard this black and white argument before have you come across this as well? How do you argue against this reasoning?
 
  1. There is no hatred (from us Christians at least).
  2. We are note the same things about homosexual black and white couples too. 🙂
  3. Same argument can apply to anything one wants…does not make it true. It is simply a false analogy …a false argument.
 
I love and intend to buy the rainbow Oreos. God put the rainbow in the sky as a sign of his promise and I think they are beautiful. Too bad so many have made them a symbol of something divisive. I am not going to stop loving images/pictures/decorations of rainbows.

As far as the black/white comparison, that is completely wrong, and it’s not just a Catholic issue. From our Jewish neighbors:

Gay people have and will continue to live however they want - who’s stopping them? I don’t care about any of my neighbors’ sex lives. THAT is the message for everyone. But I would appreciate if gays got their agenda out of my face.

Exactly right. All wearing of wedding rings should be banned. No more references in public to “my husband,” or to “my wife.” No insurance benefits for married partners.

They’re not actually coming out with rainbow Oreo’s though…'twas just an advertisement.

The fact that proponents of gay marriage find this analogy apt, while opponents see it as apples and oranges illustrates well the divide in where both parties are coming from.

To assume that a homosexual couple and an inter-racial couple are exactly the same assumes what it is trying to prove: that homosexual couples are just as “normal” as any other couple.

I think there should be a moratorium on comparing one’s cause to the Civil Rights Movement. I’d be willing to let the pro-life side retire this rhetorical point-scorer if the LGBT activists would do the same. 😛

Hatred towards interracial couples was irrational because there are no significant differences between the races, and what ever race, a man and woman have sexual complementarity.

Hate is an emotive word that some use to stop any discussion over the issue of homosexual acts, who does not dislike hate? Catholic doctrine recognises that homosexuals have a cross to carry, and calls them to chastity and says homosexuals should be treated with dignity and compassion.

You don’t CARE if people go to hell for living a life in perpetual mortal sin? That really is what you are saying. Also - if we allow the homosexual lifestyle to be normalized, it becomes an increasingly difficult argument to have with children and others when asked why it’s wrong, when everyone else is doing it. It’s wrong, and it’s always been wrong, but if society normalizes it, the argument is weakened. And then society suffers as a whole.

One could say the same thing about abortion — just do it and don’t bother me with it, because I don’t care if you go to hell for committing mortal sin. But there is a much wider issue than just keeping an agenda “out of my face”.

As a husband in a interracial marriage (see the signature), I feel that the interracial analogy to same-sex unions is comparable to those who argue a weakening point and then eventually apply “Godwin’s Law” to change the argument to a matter of “hate speech”.

As you noted, humans are humans. Biological male and females of the human race, regardless of race, have the 100% potential to generate offspring using their genetics alone. Same-sex couples have an inherent 0% potential, due to biologic incompatibility. Take this point to a non-religious, sociologically scientific conclusion and the process of same-sex couples creating children requires at least 3 people and becomes an inefficient means to keep society populated.

Here is the issue.
  1. Gay marriage supporters put same-sex marriage on the ballot and it was voted down wherever it appeared. So, the people don’t want it.
  2. Step two. You get judges and politicians to endorse it, including the President.
  3. You go to major businesses like Target and General Mills and get them to endorse it.
My point is if most of the hundreds of millions of Americans are against it, you get a handful of judges and and business owners to endorse it. Giving the illusion that everyone is for it.

Apparently, you haven’t seen my other posts on the subject.
  1. WE are not allowing anything like this to be normalized. It was defeated on every state ballot. Most people don’t want this to happen. And whatever happens, I and other Christians, will be against it,
  2. Referring to the OP. MY POINT is the gay marriage thing is being constantly shoved into our faces today. My point is, gays were doing whatever they wanted in the past and still are, just take your stupid gay cookie out of my face. And the rest of your gay agenda supporters - keep them out of my face as well.

If I misguided you on my stance on gay marriage, I’m truly sorry. But they are getting stores like Target, and politicians, like our current President, to constantly push their agenda.

Finally. I work in the media and I understand how propaganda works. The Gay Oreo Cookie, real or not, was a perfect example of trying to condition the public to think the wrong way.

Sorry for a bit of a rant there.
