A good rule of thumb: if you’re not willing to speak to a person eye to eye about something don’t put it on a banner or gossip about it.

I kind of agree with you. At these events, they’re especially closed off when it comes to differing view points because emotions run high at this sort of events. Imo you would have better luck on a normal day.

But if OP wants to do it still, I wish them the best of luck.

Nobody really engages with a mirror. If the Church simply reflects what the secular culture is doing, why should anyone bother with the Church?
St. Clare might take issue with this use of the mirror analogy.

“Fairy extreme”? You just have a Freudian slip there buddy?
In a world with autocorrect I’m not sure how possible those are in types communication anymore.
Believe it or not, some younger individuals have not really heard the message that Christianity has anything to say in the matter of marriage or sexuality
Also for younger people gay relationships have been a normal presence in their adolescence. If they don’t know someone personally then there is probably someone in the media they consume. Statements against gay marriage may come across as statements against these people in their lives.

I have a son who is gay and this changed my way of seeing LGBT people. Over the course of time I have come to see people that are gay as God’s children… no less or more in need of God’s love than you or me.

Go there and love these people as if they were your children, siblings, parents, etc because in the grand scheme of things… they are.

Sam

Just quietly pray and offer some mortifications/acts of reparation for these souls.

They’re confused, unhappy, mainly because they are focusing on self. Many are on prescription meds and are continual seekers of help from mental health professionals.

Prayer, sacrfice, and smiles. No counter protest.

Of course people with SSA are God’s children. Loving them means doing what we can to help them avoid committing homosexual acts.

Maybe peacefully pass out pamphlets (with an Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat) explaining the Church’s view on SSA?

Yes, why bother with us if we are simply offering what they have already?

If we reflect secular culture then (unless that culture reflects the teachings of Christ) we are treating the values of secular culture as our gospel.

We aren’t a club eagerly looking for more members by adapting what we offer and marketing it in order to attract new members.

We would be allowed to talk about the benefits of marriage for life, but we would not be allowed to talk about what we are against.
Make it VERY clear what you are FOR.

Put up huge signs that you are for “traditional family values and the nuclear family and marriage between ONE Man and ONE Woman.”

Just ignore the event. There are any number of public events in communities that you might not agree with for many reasons.

But there is no reason to respond, or attend, unless maybe if they are marching the parade in front of your home. Even then, you can stay inside and clean your bathroom or something.

That will only attract negative attention and won’t initiate helpful conversations.

Be respectful to the people at the event, don’t be hateful.
Being respectful of people does not preclude being unaccepting of errant beliefs, and being unaccepting of errant beliefs does not equate to hate.
Indeed. But going down the path of banners will only make people think of the Westboro goons. Better to have a stall where you can actually speak to people and express a full idea rather than the lack of information such a banner would give.

Then so be it.

If that’s what they think of our beliefs, fine. The world hated Jesus first before it hated us.

We ought to be God pleasers rather than men pleasers.

worry about how you think a person could be converted without having a conversation with them.
They’re not open to converting to our side…

They are trying to convert to THEIR side.

Therefore, they must be opposed and fought against tooth and nail.

That doesn’t mean we should purposely aggravate them though…? Especially when there’s no purpose to it (in other words, very rarely would you have a gay person go ‘hey, that banner is right!’). Compared to an actual conversation where you get to share about your faith and listen to their questions etc…

They’re gonna have plenty of banners talking about how normal and virtuous homosexual acts are.

We should meet them with banners talking about how holy Catholic beliefs are.
