Is there any big movement within RCC for ordination of openly gay priests (as there is in the Anglican Church)?

Uhhhhhh, no.

Incidentally, my priest is an ex-Episcopal priest. He told me the openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church has done more to convince Episcopal priests to convert to Catohlicism than any other event.

I agree. A good friend of mine is Episcopalian and they are struggling to elect a new bishop in this area. The liberals and the conservatives can’t agree (go figure) and a lot of people are upset that they could have a bishop that would accept a gay priest.

As a Catholic looking in, its pretty entertaining, but sad at the same time.

Just the fact that a Church can go from
a) Homosexuality is a sin and an abomination before God.(at least the acts are an abomination)
to
b) We must accept openly gay priests to lead and teach our flock.

in the span of 30 or so years flies right in the face of the truth being unchanging. This kind of changing truth can only come from man, not God.

Just last year His Holiness ordered that seminaries reject gay applicants. There are to be NO gay priests in the Catholic Church.

the catch being that if a man with SSA lives chastely for 3 years or another reasonable length of time, he can apply. And strait candidates ahve to also prove they are chaste, but to a lesser degree (ie no secret girlfriends).

Absolutely not! There has always been a “big movement” against the unchaste, whether straight or gay. In the last few years, the movement has been against the ordination of anyone perceived as gay, no matter how faithful, virginal, or chaste the candidate be. Sometimes to the point of encouraging highly inappropriate swagering machismo among priesthood candidate as “proof” that they are heterosexual. 😦

Do you mean ‘practicing gays’?

I’m against gays (who practice) as being priests but not ‘gays’ per se. Anyone who has an inclination to a major sin, but does not sin should be allowed to be a priest, should they not?

Is it wise for a man with SSA to enter the Seminary though? Ocaasion to sin comes to mind, as Seminarians are in very close quaters, often sharing dorm rooms. To put oneself deliberately in an occasion to sin is sinful in itself. Im just not convinced its wise for people with SSA to enter the seminary.

Exactly. Should the Church allow a man who professes an attraction to young children to enter the seminary? Should such an individual be able to become a priest on the condition that he has not committed an offence for several years? Absolutely not!

The same should apply for individuals with an attraction to other men.

No, and I hope that there never is such a movement. I see nothing wrong with gay men becoming priests so long as they live a chaste life but usually “openly gay” means that the man is sexually active and doesn’t care what others think. We do not want that in our priesthood.

The catholic church is full of gay priests Bishops etc but most dont practice homosexuality but some do as we know for sure

This is my belief, Just look at the magnitude of the sex scandal involving young boys & men, it wasnt only in usa it was bigger in Ireland then here & australia , & probably all over the world.
I feel that the reason the church is not getting vocations is because yrs ago, gay men went into the church & used it as a cloak, now that gays are more or less accepted, they dont have to do that now.If u study Church history, U will find it was always rooted in Homosexuality.

Hmmm. so this is a hunch? It seemed that you were stating it as a matter of fact.

Do you think that perhaps when you state something that sounds slanderous you should have some statistics or sources to support you?
